I recently came across a job posting for a receptionist position that required a bachelor's degree. Why in the world would that ever be a thing?

Maybe they have a culture of growth and want you to be able to grow. Part of a degree is it tells a company you can show up somewhere for a number of years and accomplish something.
Not surprised. It’s like a high school diploma anymore unless you have a technical degree like engineering, nursing or something specialized.
