Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Buy American?

I was on a walk behind one of the many buildings at (redacted) today. There was a big yard of vehicle bodies sitting in the sun. There were also many shipping containers. As I walked along one of the containers, I saw a shipping tag that was written in Chinese. I was intrigued by this. So I started looking at the other tags on the shipping containers. Many of them half Chinese, half English. These are cars that cost over $100,000. Shame on general motors for not having American suppliers make these car bodies. And shame on anyone who can lecture someone with a straight face to buy American. It's no longer possible to buy American. The corporation sold out the American worker in so many ways. It's all about the stock prices and executive compensation t this point. They have no loyalty toward anyone/anything but their own bank accounts.
Remember this when they tell you you have to justify your own existence by proposing cost cutting ideas.

I watched tool shop after tool shop in the Great Lakes region close because, for so many years, I kept hearing, "Why can't we just have that tool built in China and shipped back here?" All the while, that was the cost that was being driven to the suppliers. We forced them to go overseas to get tools built.

@e8 I think you mean GM. And no, we also don't try to spread false mental health accusations to cover our d-mb azz when we get exposed for lawfare like ALPR stalking new grads that speak up in Oakland County.

Does this stuff happen at Ford too? Or just Oakland University and Ford Motor Company:

Corporations are not altruistic, they exist to make profits. If you are so concerned about Chinese products, simply throw away all your possessions with Chinese sourced components and buy American.

I wonder if all of the "made in America" cars (composed of Chinese parts) assembled by proud UAW members are counted by the United States government as part of gross domestic product. If so, it's completely disingenuous.
People should be less concerned with AI, replacing jobs and more concerned with H-1B visas and outsourcing of products. That's the real threat to the middle class.
The government can say that we're not in a recession, but to many young people it feels like a depression with so few opportunities.
