My office location is being shuttered and staff are being transitioned to a “nearby” city based office location. I am an associate type with an analytical desk job and now I’m being asked to move and fill dozens, upon dozens, upon dozens of boxes of paper documnts for long-term storage and/or transfer to new office location. I don’t think I could physically do it but I’m being pressured to fill these boxes along with my small team. I don’t think this was ever in job description. Comp. not hiring moving staff to do this work. what should I do?

Into each box put a fun little note with deep thoughts.
Without sorting and categorising whats the point? Is anyone going to look at these boxes of documents ever again.
If no ome cares why should you
@gp Don't lure people into a false sense of something that won't happen. You can assure Health and Safety and Facilities teams would have planned for what can be done by staff and what cannot.
@g3 I don't think they're expected to move the boxes from the old office to the new one physically. It's likely they just need to fill the boxes and put them in an area ready for collection (by a separate company)
Sounds ripe for disability claims and lawsuits.
@b7 and how ignorant are you to think its their job to pack up and move the office?
@af Do not confuse the concept of chain of command with what you like to do in your spare time.
Toss all the files in the trash and send out boxes full of toilet paper to the new location.
How out of shape are you that you didn't think you'd be able to put paper in a box.
When we moved offices everyone had to volunteer some time to sort through all the storage closets and do all the iron mountain paperwork and then iron mountain came and took everything. But I don’t understand how you have so much paperwork still. Pretty sure my whole location has been paperless since 2019. All the storage closets are empty.
What should you do? Fill the boxes and be quiet. Very simple - Even an analyst can figure it out.
Typical mentality of BNY staff. Ask them to do something simple and they throw a tantrum and start saying "someone else should do it" ...Anyone but me!
Are you saying you are unable to put paper into boxes?
