No 40 hours should be all that is required, weekends and afterhours need additional pay and benefits.

Many reasons why that won’t work and is too difficult to manage/track/enforce/deal with exceptions, etc. if it was a reasonable option, it would’ve already been implemented. Managers will manage this and escalate concerns through HR if they have a problem with it. Just do your job and if your manager need you to come in more then do so, but if some people have accommodations or special circumstances worked out with their leaders then it’s really not anyone else’s business.
There are 6 people my immediate family (4 kids between 14-22), and everyone has been coming home with Covid a month or two apart for 2 years now… I personally struggle with coming into the office, knowing that I live under the same roof as someone with Covid. My peers are older and would rather I WFH if exposed. I’ve provided COVID results for my family members every time someone falls sick.. times have changed- our new circumstances require flexibility, consideration for peers, and common sense. Not sure why Americans are so uncomfortable with the WFH posture- other countries treat their employees like adults- so just have compassion and understanding- or just mind your own business.
