So Just got told that reqs that need to be filled are to only be filled going forward using someone from India, PGH or Florida’s cause those facilities are somehow considered “growth” locations. Gtfoh. These places have the most layoffs and yet we’re going to pass up local talent for a sh-t fest in another lame location

I speak Robin…. please allow me to translate:
“Growth location” is a euphemism for a low cost sweatshop location. The tortured logic that leads to a “Growth location” designation is that Pittsburgh, Lake Mary and India are all incredibly low cost (low pay) sweatshop locations. So, as people leave jobs, they will be replaced in India, Pittsburgh (i.e. “Little India”) and Lake Mary. So these three “Growth locations” are growth in the sense that as we continue to drive attrition any needed jobs are replaced in the lowest cost sweatshops. So they are growing.
Robin is damn good with words.
That was the case years ago, the Lake Mary office was opened as it was a low cost center and all new req's were to be filled there. Not sure when it changed, but it did. Sounds like it's back to the future.
@1wfh, merger??? You think it was a merger? lol. You were bought and I've seen Gallagher treat "mellons" better.
Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought ignorant than to flap your jaws and remove all doubt of it. Seriously, do some research. You really have no idea.
I guess ‘they’ never heard of NYU, StevensTech, many CUNY and SUNY schools. They make it sound like Pittsburgh is the center of the universe
We were told that all NY/NJ hires were off the table due to cost.
@dhp+1lUnrOPg- you can call bull if you want . I’m a manager and was just told this . And fyi , Pgh isnt the only location that has universities around them which is a pathetic reason . Oriskany also has plenty and has always been deemed a low cost good location. Sorry but most folks I deal with in Pgh and India have zero clue about processes they’ve been doing for years so make no sense to deem that location as anything great. Plus it’s a location that gets hit hardest with layoffs every round.
this rule applies to everyone except the miserable folks on TSG. they live wherever they want, cough cough Miami.
True. Oriskany vacancies are already being filled in India and other US locations. I resigned recently and a former coworker texted me that my position was filled in Lake Mary. Sad that they closed vibrant E Syracuse site, but it definitely doesn’t make sense to keep an office like Oriskany in the middle of nowhere.
Pittsburgh employees had a glass ceiling installed in the third year of the merger. One Senior leader has oversight of the region as a part of his job. It’s total B.S. ever since the merger. We have better education, experience and achievements than so many who are many rungs hire than us. All because they’ acquired us.
Pittsburgh has extremely high quality workers, a strong work ethic and numerous excellent Business and Technology schools. Many times we also cost far less than India workers, which is sad.
It’s hard to turn down top talent on sale. I wonder why we have one in NYC. Now that makes no sense.
This company is screwed with terrible “leadership.” Nobody wants to work in a cutthroat Goldman culture for a bank that pays bottom tier salaries.
Seems like a really good way to limit diversity. Why should we care where an employee is located??? We should only care what skill we're getting and how much it will cost us. Of course we'd have to factor in costs besides their salary, but that's not too hard.
Sounds legit.
Sounds true to me.
This is very true. Lake Mary and Pittsburgh are the chosen growth sites in the US. We can no longer hire in any other US location.
First time I’m hearing about this. I’m calling a bull on this one.
