Thread regarding BT layoffs

BT org change

We’re proposing the following changes:

•     One Cloud Cisco (OCC) will move from Oswestry, London and India to Birmingham and Hungary

•     Global Wholesale Voice (Gipx) function will move from Birmingham to Hungary

•     Global Managed Voice (GMV) function will move from Bangalore to Birmingham

•     Cloud Communication Service Management function will cease

•     European Domestic Networks day support function will move from London to Hungary

•     European Domestic Networks out of hours support function will move from India to Birmingham

All affected colleagues are being fully supported through the process by dedicated consulting managers, HR and our senior leaders.

I know I can count on you all to be aware and respectful of the proposed changes some of your colleagues may be experiencing over the coming weeks and months.

Why we’re proposing these changes

We know we must reduce our costs, and be easier to do business with, in order to secure the bright future that awaits BT. We know we’re inefficient when benchmarked against our competitors, and we need to secure operational savings in order to invest and grow. In November 2022 BT Group announced that we’d focus even more on operational cost, with an additional £500 million of savings proposed by the end of FY25.

Each unit in BT Group is contributing to these targets - that could be through simplifying or stopping products, processes, systems or services; removing duplication; or doing more with fewer people.

In Networks, each unit, including ours, is carefully looking at how we can best play our part, whilst protecting BT Group, our people, and service to customers. We’ve used the last few months to assess our options and now we need to move forward.
