Too many people doing days of volunteering and not doing their job.
Also way too much pressure and forcing people to volunteer.
It’s getting out of control and lost its purpose.
Four hours a month isn't volunteering IMO. That is just enough to make us look good to the public. I wanted to volunteer for a group that is protected by state and federal laws. Falls under the same exact laws as the Army Reserve. I tried twice in 20 years. Both times I was told that I may not have a job after a two week deployment. You can hammer a few nails 4 hours a month, but don't think you will be able to make a real difference by taking 2 weeks off on rare occasions. Irks me to this day.
I take as much as I can get approved ((Best of both worlds. I get to volunteer/help make a difference, AND it keeps me off the phones)) Call center is brutal!!
