Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Don't gift BofA unpaid work

Salaried but done at 40 hours even though there is more work to be done. When it's time to leave the office, log out, leave, drive home and spend the evening with my family and forget about it the cr-p piling up until the next day. If they want more, they need to hire more people. Family time is more important than completing another "work unit". It's time you can't get back. Not interested in working more for pay either, time more valuable.

It's that time when something like this needs to be re-posted as a reminder to everybody that you don't own the bank anything outside of what it pays you to do. Taken from @3jhb+1mExZlF8.

I look at it this way, practically no one that's on their deathbed in their final hours of life contemplating what they could have done different wishes they would have spent more time working longer hours. It's almost always "I wish I would have spent more time with family, traveled more, and worked less". You have to draw the line somewhere or you'll get to the point of major regret down the road. No job or company (even if it's your own business) is worth sacrificing relationships with the people you love the most. As I've grown older, I've come to this realization and feel bad about robbing time away from my family to benefit a corporation (I used to have a whatever it takes attitude to get the job done). Set boundaries and stick to them. My wife will sometimes remind me of how I used to be, responding to work emails in the evening and weekends, being connected on vacation, working late. I guess you could say I took the red pill. Not really making any less money and life is better. Who cares about getting an E/E. Much more important things in life. At this point I'm happy with a M/M until it's time to retire.

@1nxq+1n42eExJ - right on! It's not like anyone will be paid more. Especially in this "cut expenses" environment.

The one thing BofA excels at: Cutting Expenses

They should add that to their Core Values!

There are the overachievers that like to work well over 40 hours to look somewhat relevant. Pointless.

OP is right on! Every extra minute you work beyond 40 hrs is gifting yourself a pay cut.

On top of no pay increase and inflation.

They won't care. You won't get "points". Just the same cr@ppy excuses for no increase at yearend.

Don't do it!

Tech must support releases on weekends like June 9 weekend. But take that time back. Skip Friday, half day Monday, half day the following Friday. Make it a routine to take it back and it becomes BAU.
