Agree. Almost everyone I worked with who is over 50 - except for the most senior level - gets the boot. The fun part is that you get to check the postings a few months later and see your old job posted for half the salary.

Experience is irrelevant. They hire younger and bank the savings.

You will feel when you reach 50. It was harsh layoff, it would have been better if they had given more time to prepare while continuing the job. First time in 27 years of service, i'm without work from last 3 days. It feels when you give your heart to company and you are treated like this.

It's true and it's already started.

People in my department were laid off last week. On the bright side, you should only be worried if you are over 50.
