Managers getting reprimanded for their team not RTOing

My peer said our manager is now getting pressured because a couple people on our team aren’t in the office enough. Anyone know if this is true and/or how widespread, or if our manager is just paranoid and trying to stay under the radar?

Societies have grown and evolved over centuries. Cities need to adapt, not hang onto the past. Technology is making them redundant. Holding onto the past is not a strategy.

Just remember that it’s not about collaboration, it is a result of corporate commitments to return people to downtown areas (and dependent businesses) and boost public transit use.
Secondly, the negative experience of the open office environment and micromanagement culture is contributing to voluntary attrition goals.
It’s not going to improve anytime soon, so decide where you want to work accordingly

Managers aren’t happy about coming in 3X a week either. There is not one viable argument they can make that supports this , other than it’s coming from the top. The top is not flexing to the new generation of work style and have an old fashion managerial view that if they can’t see you then you must not be working. It should be , based on the work you get done. If your work takes 12 hours to get done then it’s 12 hours , if it takes 6 it’s 6 hours. But they are crazy to think someone is going to work 12 hours from the office anymore.

We were told we must be in the office 3xs a week. If we take vacation on M & T we have to come into the office W, TH, F. Conversely, if there is a holiday on M we still have to come in 3 days a week. If we don't we were told we'd get a call from a band 3. OH NO! Now I'm scared. Please. Yes, I will follow your d-mb rules because I need a job but don't threaten me with a band 3. Who cares? Wait, I thought everyone wanted to come into the office to collaborate and maintain office comradery? Why are we being threatened to come in if we all want to go in and socialize?

This is accurate. Managers bonus/merit will be impacted if they aren’t enforcing it. They don’t want they money affected so they gonna do what they have to do.

are they going after employees who never returned back to work without approval or employees who have returned but only go once or twice a week? Or both?

Certain managers can use their discretion when it comes to making RTO decisions for certain associates. Of course it’s the D&I and favorites that get away with that.
Same stuff still happening.
Very sad and unprofessional.

Beyond absurd. So-called "leaders" at BofA just don't get it.

Anachronistic dinosaurs.

Losers.

Nah. Just a pis$-poor leader who wants to push his/her team into the office but doesn’t have the ba--s to just say it.. so they claim it’s coming down hard from above.

I know that skip level management was reaching out to managers with their RTO numbers and a report for the directs was to follow. Not sure what the procedure is but my boss has been very up front that the RTO conversation is at the top of every leadership meeting. We haven’t heard anything about anyone being called out but i wouldn’t be surprised
