Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

RTO

Love watching leaders on webex talk about the “return to office push” as they sit on their cozy corner office… trying to convince us it’s necessary to return to our open floor plan space (which is absurdly horrible)!

Give up the office and then tell me it’s more productive to sit in an open floor plan situation. Otherwise, you look like a joke.

Whoever typed this in the thread is a genius.
I offered that any scheduled webex meeting time needs to be backed out of required in-office time because simply by its nature it does not require in person presence. Crickets

Collaboration my a*se. My B3 sits in his office all days with the door closed while the rest of us are subjected to an open floor plan concept. It's basically like working at a table.

@5gky+1nWThBtb - TRUE!!! I worked in BOS, CLT and NY, then moved to a "non-hub" (i.e., undesirable) location 15 yrs ago. I have to go to NY each quarter to "be seen". Even before covid shut down, I was SHOCKED at everyone either in their offices with doors CLOSED (glass, so you can see them).

I'd go to the conference room for our Weekly Team Meeting. I was ALONE.

They all DIALED IN!!! And they talk to each other from their glass offices on the phone.

(did I mention this was BEFORE covid???)

Was completely different in the '90s, when we'd actually would hop around the floor exchanging updates and ideas all day. But that was OVER 25 YEARS AGO.

Times have changed. They. just. don't. get, it.

Collaboration in the office is a joke. Even when we sit in the office, there isn’t much collaboration. It’s the same stuff only the favorites and D&I spend most of their day “collaborating” which they don’t know about the business they manage.
Those of us that do know the business just sit and watch the show. Very entertaining.
Things really have changed in the past 10 years. Not a good look.

Best talents are not going here for sure. BAC has a reputation to pay very low. Best talents deserve best pay.

The other one is when a leader talks about hiring the best talent. When you can only hire out of 1-3 cities naturally the majority of talent that exists is not hirable. This in access to a tiny pool of qualified candidates. It is hard to take a leader seriously if they state this or talk about coming into the office for collaboration when we are just on WebEx all day.
