COVID in OFFICE!

Careful... COVID is spreading at the office at several sites. Ugh. I’ve never considered accommodations, but now seems to be a good time of year to get that ball rolling. My kid has severe asthma, so I’m not interested in our family dealing with this petri dish office getting us sick again.

Masks will be rolled out mid September for airport employees/TSA.
Masks will be rolled out for airline passengers in mid October.
Fear machine will get turned up to overdrive and slowly COVID protocols and masking will slowly become more widespread.

We must resist. Time to say NO.

@7dvh+1o3e9Bwc - fine by me. However , highly doubt E/E's are the attrition they seek.

As I said, their loss.

They will not "lose" you. They WANT attrition. They will happily replace you with someone paid half of what you make.

YOU are the one that will lose the job by not following the RTO marching orders.

You're playing right into their hand -- you're raising on two pair, but they have a full house.

The only question is if you can find a job -- depending on your comp expectations, > 100K is a tough market.

I hear Ebola is making a comeback. Now that would make working in the office a ton o' fun!

Am all for living our lives, vacation with our loved ones, not living in a cave, etc.

But living in a cave is exactly what they are doing by cramming all of us into these petri-dish cooty-infested, sticky keyboard, filthy shared floor plan.

It's plain gross.

I don't fault anyone for their personal choices (vax/anti-vax etc), BUT when we have proven that we can do our jobs -- faster, more efficiently with less distraction -- REMOTELY -- why not treat us as the adults that we are?

I actually enjoy my job, but they lose me with their Orwellian mandate chained to a desk mentality.

Bro I dont care what Trump, Fox News, CNN, you, or anyone else on this forum has to say. Fauci can go jump off the moon for all I care. There is no circumstance in which I am going to lose months of my life to fear propagated by these people. People like you can spread all the fear you want -- in fact, it might even be real. Maybe GigaCovid 1.1 Pro Edition ©™® releases next year and we can even pre-order it now by visiting the Congo. I dont care.

You mitigate your risk how you like - quadmask, call in sick, insult your managers, live in a cave, blast off to the moon with Jeff Bozo, maybe become the brand manager for Clorox -- but you won't stop me from going outside, enjoying life, taking my family on road trips. If you vote in politicians that try to restrict movement, thank goodness that it is protected by the constitution of the United States (Article 4, if you're curious).

My entire post wasnt "VAX IS BAD" or "TRUMP MAGA4LYFE" or "FOX NEW IS TRUTH". My post was "stop being a coward, life is risk, GO ENJOY YOUR ONE LIFE." We have this one short blink on this planet, I'm making the absolute BEST of it.

A blink will go by and you'll be 75 wishing you had spent more time with your wife and kids on vacation, not masked up and filtering the air as some random rich scam artist politician told you to do.

I will be 75 and thanking whatever is out there for the opportunities. Or maybe GigaCovid 1.1 Pro Edition ©™® will get me sooner than that. Who knows.

Since you’re the faux news spokes person on this form I feel compelled to remind you of a few Trump quotes:

  1. Covid-19 will go away ‘like a miracle’
  2. Covid-19 affects ‘virtually nobody’
  3. He Suggested checking if disinfectant could be injected into humans

I just think it’s important for you to keep in mind that literally nobody cares if you get the vaccination or not… like we literally don’t care if you get it, so please .. don’t worry about getting it… we don’t care and you don’t need to make any announcements about “not getting the jab”… it just looks bad, so stop saying that. LOL!

Are you seriously trying to make the justification that if people survived SARS they can deal with Covid?! SARS! As I’m the relatively rare disease that hasn’t had a reported case since 2004?! Haha! Okay… did you hear that example given on Faux News? Sit down- you’re a joke.

The new policy for Covid is that you must use your sick time. They will not give you any additional sick time. If you are positive, the new protocol is you can come to the office after 5 days of symptoms starting even if you are still contagious. It is up to your manager to allow you to work from home or not. I know a situation where one employee had it and their team only allows employees to work from home on Monday's and Fridays. HR told the employee they could work from home additional days if their manager approved it. The manager did not approve it and so this employee had to use sick days and came back on day 5 and was still coughing and contagious. They were low on their sick time and scared of losing their job. So yes, it is spreading and I know several employees that have had it this past month. I think there is extreme pressure from the top to have everyone in the office as much as possible. And it is being voiced on many calls right now they are watching this closely. Many employees are scared of losing their jobs if they do not comply with the minimum days that are required in office. They will not notify anyone if there is a positive case or exposure. If you do get it, still call SOACC and put it on the record. Hopefully they will give some more flexibility in this as Covid is very contagious and still makes people extremely ill.

Come on.. think a little. If you are coming back to the office after an extended period of WFH, chances are your immune system is weaker. If you haven't assumed room temp because of Covid, I think you are fine to go to the office and work. Covid is nothing more that a variant or SARS. You survived that w/o the need to quarantine.

Thats the thing, they arent. This forum is full of people that embezzle the truth.

"People wearing masks in the office, I'm so scared to go in"

Get real -- you're the strange one. Nobody is afraid to go in.

How is everyone being told that someone has tested positive? Did anyone receive a general email regarding your building/floor or did your managers tell you? I'm in Jax by myself for 2+ years now and no one has ever communicated anything regarding our building or floor if anyone was reported sick, and I have a hard time believing not even 1 person tested positive in the 2 years they sent me back. People are gone all the time but most of us are random IT employees from teams primarily located in Charlotte. My management doesn't give a cr-p to tell me anything, ever, and I'm not sure how I would know otherwise not to come in.

@kuh+1o3e9Bwc - at least if you're vax'ed/boosted you don't end up intubated in the hospital or die.

(although some days that might be preferable than being in the office)
