Due to a compiling issue - leaders promoting/favoring the most vocal...most departments have reached a point where nobody in charge has any idea what's going on.
This is important, as it highlights the current trend of diversion.
Every department is infected by at least one.. You've already met them, but I'll describe them in detail.
This is a person who does more talking than contributing. Takes the key terms, the less understood-challenging processes they know nothing about, and formulate meaningful conversations (catching up with the Joneses) where they inject bits and pieces of info about these complex processes, not comprehensively, no.. just enough to to pique interest, and make it seem like they're involved in something important.
Leadership, if you read this. Take some time to know the person who is less convenient. The one who seems too busy or disinterested to talk.
That's the thing about working hard, contributing... it zaps the time and energy away from playing this game that is played so well by the people you're recognizing.
Eventually though, those hard working people you don't know about will step back and learn that doing less, and instead; talking about doing more, is what really matters in this place. Is that the culture we want here?
