Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

EMEA colleagues tend to be more insufferable

Don't get me wrong, I've worked with a number of great colleagues based in EMEA and I would say most colleagues from EMEA are pleasant to work with, but of all the unpleasant, arrogant, or true deadweight employees, more tend to be based in EMEA. Why is that? I guess because EMEA has a lot more rules regarding terminations and layoffs that favor the employee, so EMEA employees are less likely to go the extra mile or feel they don't need to be accountable. I think it's in my nature to never be rude, but even if it wasn't, as an American, it's probably not in my best interest to be rude anyway because we have a higher standard of soft skills in the US.
