Exactly - its what I said, it's 20% in dollars not in FTE.

Staffing reductions are based on a percentage of expenses. It’s not a headcount percentage game but an expense percentage game. Eventually we are going to let the wrong people go, but as long as the rest of us are willing to endure long nights and weekends and management preys on good workers, it all works out.

Sorry, it was clearly our American employees struggling to understand second or third grade math.

1hxx+1pHZhRux - the f at you’re trying to make anyone in India smarter is hilarious on its own. Of course they should understand that math problem. We here had to tell them the answer 20 times before they got it

@1epe

Any India educated worker would understand that 20% of a staff of 5 workers is a loss of one employee. Not so for post boomer educated Americans apparently.

I was in a team in which 20% of the headcount was let go in Q3 of 2022. the team was maybe about 22 people, split evenly between US, UK, and India. Four people were let go (2 US, 2 UK) within two months of each other. 20% sounds crazy, but it's unfortunately realistic for smaller teams. The director shot herself in the foot though because once one of the surviving managers left to go to another bank, three people also left to find other opportunities within months.

I love how management overplays their hand, not realizing that it only takes a few people to get laid off before other the rest start aggressively looking elsewhere.
