Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

A question regarding layoffs

Are newer hires eligible to receive severance during layoffs? People who have been here for under six months? I left a good job to come to BNY Mellon but with the constant threat of layoffs, I'm thinking I made a mistake. I hope that I'm entitled to at least some severance if laid off.

No way you get SUB if you leave so quickly. Good news is that there’s a lot of reasons to immediately leave BNYM, but layoffs aren’t among them. We’ve been in an historically low layoff mode since COVID on, although to read this site one would think that they’re constant… they’re not, and not even close.

The Bank is cheap, raises are lousy. As you’ve just joined you more than likely make more than anybody on your team and likely that includes your manager. The work environment is lousy, the technology is ancient and atmosphere is toxic with Executives battling to find ways to cut our benefits.

As you’ve obviously just been in job search mode you should just continue it and be a little more selective.

I believe there is a minimum you get depending on your grade level. I can’t find the policy right now but 1 mth I believe is the minium
