Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

I'm hoping it's not over

Not for other people, but for myself. I'm still hoping to get my notification. I'd rather walk away with severance than stay and have to work twice as much for the same pay - and I've already been severely overworked for months. If I'm not laid off, I plan to quit. I'm not sticking around for this.

The dirty little secret is that everybody here whines about layoffs while secretly wanting to be layed off. The real nightmare is staying here fighting Senior management for constant benefits cuts.

Unfortunately volunteering for being put on the layoff list doesn’t always work. I have unique skill set (well unique within my department) and my manager says they won’t be able to hire a replacement. Too close to retirement to leave so my hands are pretty much tied.

I feel the same way and I volunteered. Now it's just the waiting game. I no longer feel motivated to do my job.

Hang around for the severance and do as little as possible. Nobody there cares about you. Or volunteer for the layoff.
