Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Outplacement Service

Has anyone that’s gone through the separation process with BNYMellon found any value in using the outplacement services that’s provided as an optional benefit?

Very true. After the last ten virtually layoff free years HR lost it’s core competence of conducting layoffs. This is why so many mistakes are being made and it is really hard on the displaced.

“Training” is both singular and plural. “Trainings”, whether online or classroom, is simply bad grammar. You should definitely accept the HR résumé services. You don’t want to write a résumé as casually you write here.

I got nothing but boxes to send my stuff back when I was let go in December no contact from hr at all I had to reach out and figure everything out on my own. Took a month for me to receive my personal effects from the office.

I found it to be a huge waste of time and effort. The company BNYM uses is useless. I was assigned to someone who didn’t even ask me a single question about my background, objectives or expertise. A total joke. A bit like BNYM, if you think about it.

I was let go last January and there is some value to be found. You are assigned a mentor who provides thoughts on your future path. The challenge was the layoffs were so big that resume reviews were backed up 8 weeks. There are also online trainings that provide good info
