I was laid off on the 8th and this was my first job. My manager told me it would be 8 weeks of pay after, but I am unsure if this is something have to file for with unemployment or is it automatically given after agreeing to the separation?

In your paperwork, it will highlight your separation date. Laid off on Jan 8 but separation date is Jan 22 in my case. I am not able to file for UE until Jan 22.
Ask your manager what is the personal email of yours that was given to HR to send you the separation portal access that has all the documents you need to look at and an agreement you have to sign in order to receive the sub pay.
Make sure to attend one of the separation classes. They will explain all of this.
Thrilled to see us building up 'first job' folks and providing help, dark week.
When you apply for UE make sure you don't say you got severance. SUB pay is NOT severance.
Yes you’ll get both. So if your place of employment is in Delaware. Apply for unemployment in the state of Delaware.
You will automatically start to receive SUB pay from BNY after signing the separation doc. On top of that, you should apply for unemployment.
SUB is paid by BNYM for as long as you are eligible for unemployment which is paid by your state.
