Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Woodland Park office move to 240G

We found out this week we are being shipped out May 10th even though the office deal fell through....sounds like they just want us in NYC knowing this is a hardship for prob 65% of the workforce....supposedly like 105 staff.

This has done such damage to morale you hear all the side conversations of staff so down in the dumps it is so sad.

@2fjk all had arrangements. Most were outside 50 miles. One was not and had started to come in, despite having an arrangement. Some got SUB last year, some this year did not. If you are based at home, know that you are under a microscope whether your status was approved or not.

Excellent subway system and rails for NYC. It’s a bonus to work in the city with an extra few hours a day with the swift commute. I’m envious!

Interested to hear details on WFH people let go. Were they close to an office? Did they have an approved arrangement in place?

@2auz Tell that to people in Chicago, Dallas, Oriskany, Syracuse, etc. etc. who’ve had their offices close in the last few months. Or to the people who were based at home that were recently let go (I personally know of 5, people that I worked with).

They will come after Everett and many more of the smaller locations, just watch and see it play out. Only allows them to move more offshore into lower cost locations. It has nothing to do with people, talent, or anything humanitarian. It is 100% about cutting costs at any price.

Hundreds of folks who will now essentially have their salaries cut by thousands of dollars a year -net- to pay for parking, mass transit & gas. Who cares about the employees though if they can save some bucks in the premises line. No lease here - the building was part of the National Community Bank purchase 30 years ago & they won’t get much for it if they can ever sell it.

Are you all aware that not all of WP are going to NYC. There are two other locations some are reporting to.

Wow, they’re finally treating New York almost as badly as they’ve treated Mellon. Guess what goes around comes around…

The Woodland Park office is a great benefit to employees and differentiated BNY from competitors who made their employees work in NYC. This kept many employees at BNY who otherwise would have jumped ship for more money and better working environment. There will be no difference now and lots of employees will leave for the competition. Unfortunately, management does not appreciate this at all and are solely focused on short term cost savings.

@nrd+1rooJmPw - no “we” don’t. These locations aren’t only ones closed . Buildings were closed months before us and after us. This company is broke . Why do you think they keep selling all while clocking RTO on everyone else
