HOURLY IN OFFICE TRACKING

Heard rumors that BNY is going to start tracking how many hours employees are in office. In order for an in office day to count the employee must be in office for at least 6 hours. How true is this?

So your theory is that management was totally aware of who all were slacker RTO Refusenics? Really don’t think that any Senior Leaders were prepared for the extent of the employee rebellion against going to work.

Uhhh… no. Nobody expected the mass strike against return to office and I hope that they find and weed out each and every slacker. People need to understand what accepting and committing to a job means.

I hope it IS true. First people complain about commuting so now you want to commute in, turn around and go home.
Seriously - people like this are ki-ling the firm.

The idea that a few abusers of the RTO Policy are ruining it for everyone else just doesn't fly with me. The firm has the tools to track everyone and everything, including time in office. Use these tools to identify the "abusers" and leave everyone else alone!

  1. 6 hours is not difficult to achieve
  2. There are workarounds to this which I will not elaborate here but anyone with a moderate amount of tech skills can develop such "workarounds" should something like this be implemented

No is forcing you to be an employee of BNYM. And you are not doing any favor to the BNYM management either You are being paid for your work .. You may want 3 times, 10 times then you need to go to the firm that pays you that much and lets you work from the beach as per your stipulations. If you had the talent you won't be sitting here and posting on the layoff forum.

NO ONE IS STOPPING YOU.

NO you are not the person (who posts ANONYMOUSLY) to step up and lead a union movement or organize. You are as SPINELESS as I am. At the minimum , I am honest enough to admit it and work here for a paycheck. And I do not ruin it for others unlike your ilk.

@6uoy, America is HARDLY free anymore. And we certainly can change policies that are id--tic.
I often join early AM calls from home and drive into the office after. Only an idi0t would hire people half a day ahead of our time zone then complain because we aren't in the office to collaborate.

What some of you don’t care about or realize is that many people are now returning to an office which is significantly further away than they originally took a position. The company sold a lot of their real estate (Central NY closed three locations). They allowed people to wfh because they didn’t have the space to accommodate all the employees. Then, the last building was significantly further away than their previous location. Go to work for a company with a 20 min commute and end up tripling or quadrupling that.

I do not understand the whining.

If you have signed a contract (accepting the terms and conditions of employment as per the law) and are compensated then abide by that. The commute time (even if you flip your laptop and work or on the call) is your investment. It is employment at will. No one tied you down with chains and are flogging you.

If you do not want to put in the extra hours (as you count commute time and inconvenience) please don't.

If the firm breaches their contract you have your labor department to battle it for you. Good luck.

Ask yourself .. Can you change it? No. Are you wiling to lead the fight for change ? No. Is this website a place to let off some steam .. Yes but beyond that any action is just going to hurt your colleagues at work who need the paycheck - not the Senior Management and the folks in the castle.

Fear is always been a powerful we-pon. And no one, repeat no one, is willing to risk to be the leader. I am not. Most STFU and keep finding ways to work with the system and earn a living.

That is what "free" America is for 99% of the people.

Only losers cuck for in office time. I loved their little go green for mental health campaign they did. We demand you to drive here 3 days a week and pollute the air with your gas powered cars but let’s do a go green photo op. What a circus.

Back to the years of Charlie Chaplin and the 'new modern times.' We are gradually finding ourselves in the skin of the slaves of the future, and this is only the beginning.

Our Instructions are coming from senior management. Several levels higher than me. It’s not a decision the direct manager of my team made. What’s ki-ling me is everyone thinks they know a person or team’s situation. I hope people don’t ruin it for everyone.

@4nwq+1sE9NNOm I had a similar arrangement with my manager who was fine with me coming in til lunch using my lunch breaks to drive home however once senior management found out they took it out of his hands. I’m guessing the same will happen to your group it should be up to manager discretion they know if the work is getting done. In my case I was driving over an hour to sit in a mostly empty floor it made no sense at all.

@4nwq Her commute is 1 hr 45 minutes each way. So by that logic lunch time is 3 hours and 30 minutes a day? We are doing 3 days a week that’s 10 hours and 30 minutes week in commute. When we work in the same group it’s kinda hard to be ok with this when the rest of us are told one thing but she can do whatever she wants. Treat us all the same. We all notice and other groups next to us notice.

@2orj

How do you know she isn’t following instructions by her manager to only stay a few hours? My director told us to stay for a half day. Technically we are using our lunch hour to drive home not company time. So I hope people like you who are complaining about people who were told to only stay a few hours don’t ruin it for us.

It’s probably because some people are coming in and working in the office only 1-3 hours. We have someone in my office who drives in during work hours, comes in for 1-3 hours at most and sit there on personal calls when she is in and than she leaves to log back in at home, her commute is 1h and 45 minutes. All doing this on work time. How is this allowed? I personally don’t care how many time we have to come into the office but don’t ruin it for the rest of us who are following the rules. Quit if you are going to be in miserable in the office. We the team don’t need to hear about cheerleading and complaining for hours.

@1xxw The so called managers/supervisors are the biggest offenders. And I can assure you, no manager of managers is going to hold them accountable.

They already have the software to do this and managers have to request data if suspicious. It's those few bad apples who come in for a 1/2 hour and then leave who are ruining it for all of us.

For the teams that aren’t allowed to go home early, what time are they done for the day? And is there ever a chance they are stuck late when it’s unplanned. My team is always stuck late unplanned and we are usually done closer to 7 on a normal day with no issues. If they make us stay the whole day, then that would be rediculous. I’m not going back to getting home at 9 pm!

Too many lunchtime arrivals and departures.

I would be OK with that. The idea is not to go home early and when we are told to be in the office for 3 days, they don’t mean 3 days where one is in the office for a portion of the day. Here in Wilmington, the parking lot is half empty by noon. Not every group has the permission to go home early.

Thanks for the expected down votes and no thanks for those who may have ruined the hybrid WFH opportunity for us in the future.
