Mine was so off that I’m sure I’m on some ‘to be booted’ list. I’m not saying I’m the employee of the month, but I’m definitely not as bad as the review indicates. I guess any excuse is a good excuse to push people out.

I’ve personally experienced what it’s like to receive a performance review that seemed to come out of nowhere—one that felt entirely disconnected from my actual performance and was instead crafted in such a way to facilitate a layoff.
It’s a difficult experience, especially when you know the company is using the review process to create a narrative that justifies parting ways, even when they offer SUBPAY as if they are doing you a favor. This type of review doesn’t allow for meaningful dialogue and leaves the employee feeling blindsided and disrespected. A true review should be a reflection of ongoing conversations, not an unexpected and arbitrary judgment.
My only hope is I get an actual severance in March and get the rest of 2025 off instead of them sc--wing me over with some BS partial expectations BS
Anyone who got a partially mets, fairly or otherwise, is likely on the list for March. Especially if you're in NY or they haven't found a place for you in P-M (which requires 10% (formerly 5%) layoffs. That's how forced ratings is being justified - paves the way for smooth RIFs. It's being touted to managers as "wait and see" -- not a formal PIP, but when the deadline for March comes, group 5s will come right after the 6 & 7s.
I’ve always had excellent reviews at all of the Banks for which I worked. Of course the paychecks never quite measure up, but I soon learned that you need to network and jump between Banks to have both a rewarding career and a fair salary.
It also helps to get a reputation for reliability and major deliveries. All of these things work together. I do realize that this is not a popular viewpoint here, but some and likely most of the people here are exactly the people who need this advice.
Pro Tip: produce value to the Bank exceeding your cost and both your career and your pay will really take off.
It's about results and not work effort
Forced rankings. It’s not necessarily you, or your work.
I received a partial and some of the comments were so off base but that’s the point. They want to demoralise people into resigning or not having to pay severance when they let them go. This is such a sh---y company.
I got a partially meets expectations this time around and I don't think it is at all reflective of my actual work ethic and effort over the course of this year
You cost too much money.
Therefore, you are a problem that management and HR will solve.
Neverfear, your position will live on in India.
Do you get a partial YE review ?
