Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Any comments from the store artists?

How're you guys doing? It's really upsetting to see everything going on for everyone, but I really want to hear how my fellow SGAs (and ex-SGAs) are doing.

I'm going to be transferring to another store in another region in a couple of months. My goal was to try to get back into SGA work since that's where my educational/professional background and passion really are. I don't think I'm gonna bother, now.

We have full shelves and eye catching displays at my "ratty ass Walmart" whole foods and do just fine without the chalks being used to display intellectual property theft and likeness assassination. Oh wow, that 4/20 Marley chalk pic that gets sent around every year from the Haight-Ashbury store is so cool, it only took a full shift to draw it up. Throw some stock or bag some groceries, you bums.

As a customer, I've always loved the chalkboards and have seen some amazing displays that were truly art. Now zi see more and more corporate posters and it breaks my heart for you guys. I know how that goes.

Truth: nobody cares about the chalks besides the artists. Customers don't look at them or care about them, team members ignore them, and they're a pain to put on an end cap. Really a part time job at best, especially if teams can print their own signs.

My worst fear is that they've cut our support and will just work us hard through the holidays until most of us quit. At this point I would have liked a severance package along wth my marketer.

@Anonymous169174 Yiiikes. I wish you the best of luck!

In NE, we're all safe for now - they're just cutting the amount of SGAs down per store by not rehiring when people leave.

I'm a store artist/signmaker in the sopac region. They are cutting down stores that have 2 signmakers down to just 1. All SGAs are forced to reapply for their own position even if your store only has one. This opens i currently have to reapply for my own store and any SGA in the region can apply for any store now. It's a shit show. My interview is in a couple weeks just to keep my job. Wish me luck

I think they are going to make teams print price point signs and then have the other signs sent from regional and then eliminate our position. We are basically training our replacements if we stay.

SGA from the MW here. All of us as far as I know are still chalkin' away. I'm a little pessimistic about the future with marketing taking a huge cut but we will see how it plays out. It sucks that other regions lost so many talented individuals that poured themselves into this company.

We use access via and we're still full time.

I think a lot of us made that assumption awhile ago because of that. Sad, really.
