Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Layoff numbers are a tad short

The stats for WFM at the top of this page has listed 87,200 employees now when it was 91,000. So that means that 3,800 were laid off, not just 1,500. Plus I believe in the September articles they stated that they expected close to half to move into other open jobs and that they expected " some" losses through attrition. It's not adding up.

It's word play just like in any marketing. Making something look better than it is. 1500 positions could be held by more than 1 tm. Take buyers. That's one position, but how ma y held that position?

With over 400 stores, even at an average of 10 layoffs per store, 4000 seems like a more accurate number.

Unfilled positions (people leave, positions never filled)

Remember, if you leave on your own and they do not fill the position, it's not a layoff (when in fact it is)
