Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Back to Office mandate

I'm hearing GTO will soon require all remaining MyWork employees to start working from an IT office as a condition of employment. Anyone else hearing anything?

If you are one of the chosen favorites you can probably work from home. If not back into an office so they can keep an eye on you. I can tell you if you are in Operations upper management you want to be able to get your engineers 24x7 including calling them at home. The whole idea is silly to treat highly skilled and highly paid resources like children. Banks loss technical talent will just start leaving if not layed off first. Business units have no idea of how poorly Athens Banks IT function is run and managed. Sad as it does not have to be like this!

What needs to happen is upper management needs to go that is where the real problem exists.

Honestly, i think the past about getting out of mortgage is incorrect. MyWork is being eliminated across technology and also on several control functions (finance, HR). If it was a plot to get out of mortgage, only that area would be affected. And also, the business side of mortgage has not yet been told to come back.

Very true! I wonder how many people lost their jobs to compensate for the cost of Moynihan's choice. But then again, he is all that matters. BoA doesn't need people to do actual work, they just need to keep the CEO happy...and of course our shareholders.

The CEO should be working at the corporate headquarters because right now he is 35+ miles away from the corporate office. Trump needs to ground the corporate monster. bring jobs back and mandate the CEO's live and work from their corporate headquarters or based on origin of greatest headcount. BAC turns people into robots (everything is scripted).

That wouldn't surprise me, this all appears to be big move to get of out mortgage....making things look more attractive for a sale. Other companies wouldn't want the "expense" and lack of control of MyWork. Funny how a core benefit that BoA touted as being a Best Place to Work is now what will get you dumped.

I hear MyWork should be "eliminated" by end of the year at latest. I'm sure they'll say it still exists in some form, but not in GTO. They will be headhunting MyWork in future Termination Tuesdays. Has anyone heard of them trying get out of paying severance by saying working in the office is a condition of employment, so not doing so is a choice? I've heard they may use this route to save some cash...gotta find it somewhere to pay BM's 23% increase for doing such an outstanding job.

They are letting people go if you are more than 35 miles outside of a major hub. Several people were let go last week due to their geographical location, the idea is to get rid of my work completely, at least for some orgs.

Not necessarily, two people on a peer team were let go last week, the reason given by management to the rest of us was that they were living on another state and out of the 45 miles range and still on mywork.

It is definitely a-coming, sooner or later, and anyone living outside of a major hub should be sending out resumes..

Is GTO and GMRT&O the same group?

I heard eventually, the goal is to eliminate the "mywork" program across the bank in general and that if you are not located near a major city that has operations located at those are the folks that maybe let go. I know too many people that are on the mywork program that have moved their residency because of the flexibility on that program. In addition, there have been reports of people "abusing" the mywork program when they should be working and they aren't. Again I don't know if it's just a rumor or the truth about eliminating the mywork program entirely. In my opinion if you don't have access to customer accounts, security information, have no customer F2F interaction, and don't have your team members located in the same city/state including your manager; they should allow folks to remain on mywork.

Nope. It's still the 35 miles from all I've ever heard upper management say. If you're 35 miles or further from an office you should be safe on my work.
