I agree that WFM is doomed. They are definitely guilty of corporate hubris, not to mention hypocrisy and outright dishonesty (e.g., price-rigging) and it's caught up to them. Customers now have many other retailers to choose from. Whole Foods has squandered all their competitive advantages and they are desperately trying to play catch up. I think it's too late. Start making contingency plans for other employment now and if you have any WFM stock in your 401K I'd dump it now while it still has at least some value.
Brand Keys attributes this, Whole Foods' first entry onto this list, to accusations of Whole Foods price-rigging its own brand, as well as "corporate hubris."
Wait, we're saving the planet guys... Right?
Well that will mean more layoffs, until they get a formula that works. How about selling food and fully stocked shelves, no preaching?
