Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

I still love this company

But I am sad because of what it has become. We have lost the very thing that set us apart from the competition-people. People who are dedicated and passionate about their jobs are few and far between now. Most are part time so that is easy to understand. Everything is watered down and success is measured by if labor was achieved(which is next to impossible).

The people who could have fixed the problems were all eliminated by the douchebags in management at regional and global who wanted to protect their cushy jobs. Now all that's left is the douchebags and a bunch of part-timers. That's why the stock is sinking, investors are losing hope and the results are pathetic.

I still get customers asking about a bulk buyer that was fired a year ago here. He brought people in with care, knowledge and hard work. They blindly fired him to save a few pennies and are losing thousands.

Horrible management when the boots on the floor are the ones making any real money for this company and they have completely lost sight of that.

-zdb, there's a distinct difference between needing a job and doing it competently enough to keep it. When certain people keep making the same mistakes over and over with their jobs, maybe it's time for them to find 'happiness' elsewhere. And I'm specifically talking about Mis-Management making errors. When Management cannot be competent enough in their jobs, the effects are widespread and damaging. Look at what's happening right now, it's NOT the result of average TMs doing their jobs. It's the result of Management unable to do theirs. They should GO, yesterday.

Us vs Them? Wtf? Just because regional folks are often missing the mark on how things really go down in stores does not mean we should be fighting each other. From plan o grams that do not match up with the store's needs to unreasonable expectations....all of which as they are being implented into place folks upstairs are seeing how their vision misses on several levels across the board. Adjustments will be made.

I agree that lots of things s--- right now..but fighting internally is good for no one. We all need our jobs.

The product assortment at Target is more like Wholefoods except prepared foods and over priced cheese/specialty dept. Soon it will be dog eat dog at whole paycheck.

and as this happens, look what the competition is doing!!! Go figure....

Target’s food-centric overhaul comes at a time when the grocery business is growing increasingly crowded.

Retail chains such as Walmart and traditional supermarkets like Kroger are increasing their investment in their online and organic grocery businesses. At the same time, discount chains such as Aldi and Trader Joe’s are growing and expanding their organic offerings, forcing other chains to cut prices. Whole Foods, for example, recently launched a lower-cost chain called 365 to attract millennial customers.

In this competitive environment, customer experience is more important than ever. In August, industry website The Robin Report revealed that Kroger is in the process of hiring 14,000 people at its 2,800 stores to boost customer service. Walmart is similarly investing in improving its grocery experience, with plans to expand services such as grocery ordering and pick-up.

By investing in employees whose entire role is to improve grocery shoppers' experience, Target has the opportunity to gain the upper hand on these retail rivals. Looking forward, Target is likely to continue to attempt to grow its grocery business by further separating food from the rest of the store.
