Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Concierge Is Gone Too

The same day they dropped the axe on Demo, they dropped it on concierge. If the store doesn’t have an unrealistically high amount of sales in personal shopping, no more concierge. Everyone’s knows Instant Cart and Amazon Fresh has replaced personal shopping and the threshold to keep the concierge is so high, very few stores are keeping theirs. They don’t take catering and special orders into consideration. My store does so much catering and special orders that the concierge is running for her whole shift. Plus she handles everything that the internal marketer used to handle before they got rid of that. Who is going to do it all? Demo, Concierge?!?! Who is next? Any guesses, because it is coming very soon.

Yep, Concierge at Whole Foods got the axe. They are firing/laying off. It is becoming old news to insiders. Take care, this is a retail job not worthy of worrying about. Do your job and you're lucky if you get a genuine atta boy. You will most likely be asked to pick up the Concierge slack along with working throughout all outlets and if that doesn't tire you go clean the toilets too. Your feet will be hurting when you get home and you will be wondering what the h*$l you got yourself into. Whole Foods needs a union so that people can be treated fairly and not used over and above the max of what they signed up for! If you don't take away anything else remember this, the job is not dependble. It is a temporary job no matter how they describe it when you are hired. The ones that say long term are indoctrinated into the well known Whole Foods Cult. If you don't join the cult "culture" you will be wacked. It doesn't get any simpler than that.

Publix just opened one of their superstores within a few blocks of the Aventura,FL store. And just before the holidays. Let the games begin.

SSSs are still actively being hired at new stores, while MSIs & SSIs are not so perhaps SSSs have more of a future. They are not rehiring MSIs/SSis as they leave the company, so that job is a dead end. I imagine GAs will be gone or at least be cut back as TMs using SLAW and Beam Team replaces all store signage.

GA and SSS are next. Most likely cutting the workforce in half and splitting them between stores. Buyers are going to be cut back and ATLs will be doing more buying. The one change that isn’t coming? No plans to get rid of any regional positions or cut back bonuses for higher ups.

Team members are being cross trained in sign making and DSS here in NC. I think more sign makers are on their way out and duties will be given to buyers and leadership.
