Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Rough Seas Ahead

We are expecting layoffs next week. Another round of cuts is expected to follow sometimes in February 2019.

WFH and other perks are about to be discontinued, completely or to some extent - we are expecting this with a fair amount of certainty.

Anyhow, cuts are inevitable and communicated by the C-level folks (both internally and externally) and the only question remaining is how deep this round of cuts will be. I am in Boston and I've heard varying numbers (as low as 500 and as high as 4,000). At this point, we can only wait and see.

No matter what happens, good luck to all of you reading this and all of you in the trenches - we'll likely need it very much.

We have it on good authority, there are major cuts coming over the next 6 weeks. Not one area of the company (except for senior management) will be spared.

I heard cuts through Feb as well. Not sure of exact numbers but I heard 300 on Monday 1/14 from a good source. If those numbers hold for 6 weeks, accounting for holidays and another stat that I heard (10%), we are looking at more than 5000 people.

Where did you see information on February? Please don't speculate, just makes people nervous.
