Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Numbers?

Do we know how many people were laid off so far at Mellon? Any ideas on what number is the final goal? Can we expect this whole process to be done by the end of the day or will it drag on throughout the entire week?

I'm sorry about all these questions, I'm really nervous and trying to find at least some concrete info to grab on to.

Audit told they are not a part of the "current effort" but there will be restructuring in place by the end of Q2. Also within the Success Factors there are numbers that show direct reports. Charlie has 50,779 direct reports. A few days ago the company had close to 52,000.

1/14 was 138 in Pittsburgh, unfortunately that’s all I know. The younger folks are laughing about it while everyone that’s been around a while is on edge.

I'm betting on a takeover by JPMC. The now CFO came from there and less than a year later staged a coup and took over the CFO role. His first words to the group were "I don't know why I don't fire you all the and get people who can do their jobs" He promptly followed up on that by forcing out my boss's boss and my boss and bringing in his cronies from JPMC. He laid off more than half the department including myself. Along with now CEO from there, the company is already practically a unit of of it anyway.

I can confirm earlier posts this will continue thruFebruary. I would bet that it will go beyond that. For folks that worked from home they did them over the phone. Company is in turmoil. Charlie is on a short string. Most of the management team believe a take over or merger with JP MORGAN is in the works. Changes to bank titling, severance packages line up with them along with the influx of managers coming over from there. The plan is to eliminate severance totally by end of year. So sad to see the company destroyed.

Heard Frances Barney is in Washington state for a surprise visit. We have been suspicious because every year our office gets smaller.

The Head of Human Resources should be ashamed. New performance assessment. No appeal.
