Laid off yesterday. 21 years at bank, now age 61. Got laid off 2014, rehired 2015, now laid off second time. At least I get another, albeit smaller, severance package this time. Was involved in the WTC cleanup and have had 2 bouts with cancer in service to this bank after 9/11. Now cast aside for the SECOND time. Honestly have not figured out what the management strategy has been since the recession 10 years ago, seems to be constantly changing direction. Really quite a shame. Worked with some great people, but management only seems concerned with stock price.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the folks who have been laid off are the lucky ones. I know I don’t want to go back to work there tomorrow. I already work too many hours and now our department has been cut further. Charlie Scarf is everything wrong with America in one awful human.
I could shake your hand as well. 30 years with heritage BNY and I no longer recognize the fine institution I joined under Mr J. Carter Bacot’s watch. So far have made it through the layoffs, and hope to stay below the radar and retire in a few more years. It’s been a sad few years watching this company continually reinvent itself.
I don't need a single additional detail to shake your hand and admire your courage. You have more integrity and decency to which BNY Mellon, as a corporation, could ever aspire. Blessings.
