Buried in work chaos

I’m swamped. Over the last year, we’ve lost so many team members. Some of them were let go, others were smart enough to jump ship. Instead of hiring help, their tasks got dumped on the rest of us, and we were already running on fumes. Now it’s so... — read more

Scrambling for sales again

With the start of week 01 in Jan, many countries are already scrambling for sales as their inventory level has dipped. Massive expedite requests are made to plants and DCs. What a great foresight by PG team which cut inventory to bare minimum. Get... — read more

Stretched thin

When you have only the cost of an employee as a criteria, instead of contribution, experience and skills, you end up with crippled teams. Mine has been missing several critical roles for months now, and a couple of hard workers you can rely on. We... — read more

No 3 Ratings for 2024

Is anyone else hearing that their department isn’t giving out any Exceeds Expectations performance ratings to their people because they didn’t meet their financial goals? My department is. Or is this company-wide, a nice gift from BB?

The best way to get employees to stop caring

Everything always stays the same. There’s no progress, no efficiency, no spark of improvement. Then add constant whispers of layoffs, miserable raises, useless bonuses, and a forced return to the office, and you get a perfect storm for making people... — read more

Why aren’t more people leaving?

Life’s too short to stick around in a place this bad. Most people here seem miserable, yet hardly anyone’s leaving. What gives? Is it some kind of workplace Stockholm Syndrome? Because I don’t get it. Just so we’re clear, I’m out of here the moment I... — read more

Challenging 2025

It's only Dec and all the ESC leadership and scrambling to ask the plants to cut OE within 4 walls. That's the issue with lack of growth. You cannot cut yourself to prosperity

Don’t show up your boss

If you want to keep your job, never do anything that might make your boss feel like you are smarter than him or her. I've never encountered anyone more full of themselves than my current manager. If you're not good at making your boss feel proud and... — read more

Don't try too hard

Anyone who is silly enough to bust their butt after another round of layoffs to make up for the work left behind by your former teammates is silly enough to get whacked the week before Christmas. Do your 40 hours. Period. If people refuse to play... — read more

Bed behavior is rewarded instead of punished

It feels so demoralizing when bad behavior such as stealing credit for others' work or getting things done by bullying your direct reports gets rewarded. How is that helping the company? It just seems like it's encouraging more negativity. It’s... — read more

Have the advancement avenues always been this narrow?

I’ve been with 3M for four years now, and it seems to me that options for advancement or longer term career build-up are barely there or straight non-existent. I don’t necessarily want to spend years here, but everyone wants to have something to show... — read more

Solventum Layoffs

Has anyone heard of layoffs going on across the organization? I know they sent out a video saying there would be layoffs, but I'm not sure if it has happened yet.

Solventum layoffs coming

Solventum notified employees via video that layoffs are happening. People have one on one meetings scheduled throughout the day. If you have friends or former coworkers there reach out and offer support.

I am an upcoming new employee

Your performance doesn’t matter

If layoffs have taught us anything, it's that how good you are at or dedicated to your job doesn't matter. Being an experienced and skilled employee and a good performer is probably more of a burden. Good employees are costly, that’s the bottom line... — read more

Are All Factories this Bad?

Curious if all US 3M factories are this bad or is 3M Clinton unique? Our turnover amongst both the hourly and salaried staff seems really high. On the hourly front, I’ve heard turnover has been 40% the past 2 years and is on track to be above 50% in... — read more
