Topics regarding layoffs at 3M

No mass layoffs planned - is it time to shut this thread?

With mass no lay off plans is it time to close this thread? Yes - I know the layed off bommers will cry, & I know those who can’t get a job elsewhere will remain disgruntled. But am genuinely wondering as this forum run its course?

How good are 3M Corporate and Division Scientists

I am a newer 3M and can't help but notice that the T6_T7 group are an elite brunch. Being comparetively new to 3M, I am not able to judge their technical skills or accomplishments. I understand that they made $$$ for 3M to get to that rank, but how... — read more

Have The Tariffs Made Your Plant Busier or Slower

Just curious where this economy is heading and if we will see hiring or layoffs? Are US plants actually expanding? Is business coming back from China? Bill Brown said we will start feeling the tariff impact in H2.

Plant Engineering at Maplewood is a pile of...

They are a steaming pile of you know what. Our equipment is down for weeks when it used to be a day or two. We are told they can't get parts but it sounds like Bald Bob, Timid Tony, and Jumpy Jeff are the real problem. From what I hear they take... — read more

Happy Memorial Day! Decatur, enjoy your week off.

Are there any other manufacturing sites that are feeling the crunch of TVOS? (Total Value Of Shipment) What strategies are your sites using to offset costs? I don't mind being off on holidays, however I only have so much vacation to cover the rest of... — read more

What did TEBG's restructuring achieve?

From my point of view, I have only seen more confusion. I wonder what has been the net impact of this huge restructuring. Have you seen any positive impacts? Anything that changed for the better? Or is this just a poorly thought out initiative. — read more

BB visits UK

Psd purge

What is happening in psd? Why is everyone leaving?

MTDE VP leaving after less than a year

Just saw that the VP of MTDE will be leaving 3M, after less than a year in the job. IBO must really be a toxic hellhole to drive out someone at that level.

poor results and no accountability

This guy has been in the job for over 5 quarters with no results, implemented one of the worse “strategies “ with a box that has plenty of dead inventory and costed ASD a lot of money and is still in the job. I wonder why 3M isn’t growing.

They refuse to acknowledge the problem

The disconnect between leadership and reality would be funny if it wasn't so frustrating. After our department's MVP quit last month, you'd think someone might wonder why morale is in the toilet. But nope. We got same empty "we're a family" speeches... — read more

RTO

Anyone hearing anything? After BB's really long, prepared answer to what was obviously a planted question, where he got to wax philosophical about longer lines in the cafeteria and more cars in the parking lot and in his important culture is, blah... — read more

Recognition progam is offically worthless

Needs VP approval for Bronze, Silver, or Gold. Must have direct reports to give out any recognition (50 points) ok, fine on the second one... but the first is just stupid. Who is going to want to give out when a VP has to approve them? Seriously, it... — read more

Cottage Grove, MN.

What’s keeping cottage grove mn from closing? Is the site still profitable? Or, is the costs of remediation the hold up on shutting down operations minus wastewater. Just curious if I should plan being able to retire from 3M, or look at other... — read more

Is there a reasonable chance?

OK, up until this quarter, I figured 3M’s demise was basically already decided by the board. It felt like the company was just being prepped to be chopped up. Even if there was some openness to trying to make it a high-functioning, long-term business... — read more

Support?

We have always had great support from the Plant Engineering group at 3M headquarters. Recently we have learned that the group is being phased out and no longer permitted to hire. We need prompt support when we are down! Please step up and provide the... — read more

IBO moved to to Finance?

I just found out (from a Viva Engage post that was made yesterday) that IBO has moved to finance under the transmission management team. That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me (although, reporting up through CBG didn't make any sense... — read more

IBO thanks people for setting goals

IBO's chrome-domed leader just sent a message thanking us all for setting way more goals than everyone else. Because who the he-l needs to accomplish things when we have administrative BS to fill our time? Same reason we're being pushed to... — read more

Global tariffs

With Trumps latest global tariff, how will it impact OUS sales for 3M? Seems the stock is down 5% upon liberation day, and looks set to decline more. Thoughts?

2026 employee outlook

I know it's probably too early to tell...anyone that was up for a raise/promotion or 2026 bonus...will those be impacted by the trade war between US and the world?

2023 layoff + two years, how life has changed

Sharing a few thoughts as the two-year anniversary of that little “mandatory” meeting approaches. I spent well over a decade at 3M and remain proud of what we built there. We did interesting research, created new products and worked with... — read more

Pay for Performance

What a joke. 7% If they can't reward my hard work and good results, why should I try to do better this year than I did last year? Time to perform to payment.
