June inventory

Makes you wonder why they are doing inventory in June instead of August…

It is your decision to be treated like this

We all already know the pattern - they cut costs and lay off people, after that the survivors are under even more pressure until the next round of layouts and until the final collapse. It is already clear to everyone that it will not get any... — read more

This is just the start

You think 300 is a lot? Wait until that number grows to 3,000 and then who knows how many more. The company is looking to cut costs and the easiest and least painless (or at least that's how the management sees it) way to do it is through layoffs... — read more

You can run but you can't hide

Charlotte-based Belk is shutting down a fulfillment center in a small South Carolina town this spring, a move that will eliminate more than 300 jobs at the site. The department store chain will close its Jonesville facility starting at the end of... — read more

Why move store managers around so much?

Does anyone know why Belk would assign a store manager to a location for a year, then move them to another store for a short period, then move them to another store again... what is the reason for frequent moves from some store managers while others... — read more

Associate appreciation day

So apparently today was national associate appreciation day. Did your store do anything for you today? Lunch ? Breakfast? Snacks? Thank you ? Nope on my end. Great way to show it.

The right way to reduce heavy debt

The right way to reduce heavy debt is certainly not to treat employees the way they are treated here. If the company can't pay its employees more, then it can certainly have better management that will treat employees like human beings. If nothing... — read more

Not worth the headache

I’ve spent enough time here to get some experience that I need to be able to get something better. However, now I think that I could have gained that experience somewhere else and saved myself a lot of headache. I don’t think this place is a good... — read more

We keep sinking

While those on top continue not caring. Are all department store chains this disorganized?

What is the solution?

When I think about how much our store manager is paid who does almost nothing (except unnecessarily putting pressure on us) and compare it to my pay, I lose all motivation to continue working. However, I do not see a solution what we can do to be... — read more

Our hours are still getting cut

And yet they want us to do the same amount of work in less time. Well, fu-k you Belk! I'll do what I can and the rest you can deal with. I don't even care anymore. My hours have been decimated as it is, getting fired will not make much of a... — read more

Store leases that are not renewed

I know that no one knows for sure, but I wonder if there are currently more Belk store leases that are renewed or those that are not. What do you think? As far as I know, the store I work in has no renewed lease, but there is still no mention of... — read more

Reduction in selling space=store closures

Whenever there is a reduction in selling space, that is a sign of serious financial trouble and/or liquidation. So if they block areas of the store off, I would start looking for a new job ASAP.

New hires show just how desperate Belk is

Who'd have thought that lousy wages and treating people like cr-p would cause so many to leave. Shocking, I know. Then they hire new people, continue the same treatment and even more leave. Now we're at the point where we are hiring anybody off the... — read more

Merchandise is random, closeout

A customer pointed out that Belk’s merchandise is “haphazard” and “random” which is a sign they are buying closeout merchandise from god knows where to create the illusion that stores are full.

This company creates its own problems
