THE “ONE BELK” SHAM

Now all associates are assessed on the total store. this is a way for Belk to cut pay, because, Guess what? Your store will NEVER make it’s goals. belk corporate and sycamore will make sure of that! then belk will offer no raise, or worse they will... — read more

Management is as bad as it gets

my daughter works at Belk and left when she was told she can’t use the restroom, she would have to wait, while the manager was sitting on her big butt eating cake.

Read this from Barrons magazine

"The buyout shop is known for its aggressive investing style. Sycamore acquired Staples in 2017 for $6.9 billion. Roughly two years later, in 2019, Staples sold debt to refinance existing borrowings, but also to pay a $1 billion dividend to Sycamore... — read more

Do they care?

You'd think that someone from Corporate would respond to all this negativity if it wasn't true. Or at least try to reassure the employees if they cared about them.

profit margins shrinking at a rapid pace

Belk’s profit margins are becoming smaller and smaller, I don’t think they make much profit at all, even scattershot online sales don’t drive enough profit, and most of the merchandise is clearance or doorbuster.

Crooked and falling apart

I think those sycamore owners and the top brass at corporate are actually evil people, they have no interest in this company, they just want the multi million dollar lump sum they get when they company files chapter 11.

Is there anything good left to say about this place?

I see so many people who are miserable here (I am one of them) and it made me wonder if there is anything left for employees to say they like or enjoy? Because I used to actually like working at Belk once upon a time, even if it hasn't been the case... — read more

Hopefully they start closing stores soon so we can move on

It does not matter to belk what kind of problem the customer has or how long they wait. The associate has to handle more and more. The managers mostly either don't answer their phone or walk right by when there is a line of 10 people. To be fair... — read more

Former Store Manager tells all

I left the company in mid 2017, so I have been out of the loop for a while, but I was asked by my regional to “purge” six employees who were over 55 years of age, they were allowed severance, but it still was not a good business practice as they were... — read more

Just when we thought belk could not get any worse.

belk has never been concerned with the associates feelings or rights. They are oblivious to what actually is going on on the sales floor. It does not matter if you are a top performer, your hours get cut because the way they do the schedule does not... — read more

Who is deleting posts? Any post that makes the suggestion of unionization or employees sticking together gets deleted. wtf?

This won't last long

Belk also has no transparency with employees, they are very hush hush about finances, layoffs, company credit ratings, ect.. now forcing associates to do the jobs of housekeeping, operations, loss prevention, visual and the list goes on under the new... — read more

Don't Drink the Kool-Aid

Both Benjamin Franklin and Malcom X noted that those unwilling to stand up for their rights don't deserve any. Over twenty thousand Belk employees vs. 12 greedy owners. Stand up, speak up. Your actions and your voice trump all their money. ... — read more

Employees need to speak up!!!

Don’t let Belk keep “re-writing” your job, and take away benefits, PTO, weekends off, and your dignity. if you are still employed with Belk form a union and fight back against this c-appy company.

What is Belk's Status Now?

Does anybody have any concrete info on how Belk is doing now, after a good month of stores being open? Better, just as bad as they were before, or worse? Does their dismal credit rating still stand? There seems to be no news out there about this.

more layoffs?

A possibility STM’s will be laid off? Any truth to this?

Belk’s dying a slow death

I can’t tell you how many times a week my customers (in my small store), tell me they are dissatisfied with the assortment of clothing. A very loyal customer told me something really seems “off” with Belk now, “what is going on?” She asked. I said we... — read more

Typical Day at Belk

Best decision I have made in ages

I got out on my own. In 10+ years I was not allowed to move up into any better position, but I was allowed to have my job "re-written" and altered at their whim. I was also "allowed" to do the work of other, higher paid folks including managers, but... — read more

This place is done

It has been slowly dying ever since Sycamore entered the picture. No amount of sugarcoating facts is going to change that. If you are smart, you are already looking for a new job.

Arbitration agreements in 2017

Remember in late 2017 when everyone at Belk was forced to sign an arbitration agreement? belk was getting their ducks in a row. They know what they were doing to lead to lawsuits.

Belk Near Default?

According to a May 4 S&P report, Belk is one of a small handful of companies with a 1 in 2 chance of near term default. This is disconcerting for sure but it is painfully evident in all the new changes that Belk is making in their post Covid 19... — read more
