All Managers to get Merit Increases
Just read on an inter-company message that all managers are receiving raises and bonus' for 'all the hard work' they've done to save the company money. Basically for laying off thousands of employees. Doesn't seem right.
Looks like Layoffs are in full swing again - and let a distraught person jump
BP laid off an employee and let them leave in a clearly unstable condition today. That person jumped from the overpass at I-10/Barker Cypress today. They've managed to cover it up in the media but it needs to be acknowledged.
Reorg and Layoffs at BP

Upstream has an HR org of over 800 (~4.5% of employees are in HR). Downstream has 40 people in their HR org for an overall business of roughly the same size. Is HR next on the chopping block?
BP's Cost Per Barrel
Anyone have a rough estimate of what our Cost Per Barrel is? I thought I had read a while back that is was in the 90s.
USPL cuts 50% ~450
USPL just divested all its terminals. Doug Sparkman, head of Fuel Value Chain does not inspire confidence. A cardboard box has more charisma than this guy. His townhalls are a disaster. For example, asked about contacting him, he responded, "Get on... — read more

Employees who were fortunate enough to keep their jobs here at BP have been told that there will be no raises this year. Not complaining, just saying.
25% of the staff in Houston has been let go (my group)
In my group, 25% of the staff in Houston has been let go. Some were obvious targets (deadbeats, new hires) but some of our most experienced and knowledgeable folks have also been let go (likely more expensive to keep)

BP Trinidad - layoff or voluntary leave (2015)?

Overhead Burden
We have a lot of overhead in BP. Net earnings per employee are much lower than our peers. Management should be laying off 20,000 folks but they have no backbone. Hence we linger on with our sick bureaucracy.
