Anyone else notice middle mgmt engineering changes in 2024 were for the worst? Toxic environments created to purposefully drive good performing people out and those that remain are put on PIPs purposefully?
Article How BP became the oil industry’s biggest loser on net zero
This article is from today's UK Telegraph. Reproduced in full, rather than a link, as there is a paywall. They seem to be putting the blame very much at the doors of BL and HL, however, they point out that the rot started with JB. 'It was meant to... — read more
Elliot presentation

I told you last year that bpx was going to get cleaned out and brought back to Houston. Many of you doubted me. We aren't even finished with Q1 yet and we are gearing up for round two of layoffs. Mid managers and the Sandridge OK clique are up for... — read more

BP Chairman Under Threat
About time too! According to Reuters, HL may get the boot. Their point is that HL and his former employer McKinsey allowed BL to go ahead with his green strategy, and the share price has never recovered. A pity BL ultimately walked away from a mess... — read more
Why so many bp employees?
I don’t want anyone to lose their job (especially me!) but why do we have such a high headcount compared to ExxonMobil and Chevron?
Elliot Seeks Big Asset Sales....Thoughts on who goes?
I understand that the first thing that comes to mind is the divestment of our renewable businesses, which I do not doubt. I just don't see a strategic player like Elliot not having us sale something of value as well to gain more capital. My thought... — read more
CVX to layoff 15-20%
Chevron is laying off 15-20% of their staff by 2026. That’s more than bp has committed to, and Chevron is actually performing well. I have a feeling things are going to heat up for us. The targets that bp has announced are just the beginning. — read more
Another round of bpx d&c firings?
And what’s up with TE and team? Heard there’s going to be a d&c reorg. Thought the inner circle was safe.
All the blame on refining
Kate started the performance update by putting all the blame for our 2024 performance on refining specifically calling out Whiting. That is a deliberate signal. We should expect more to come on that during the strategy update at CMD.
Is Whiting Refinery Next?
Struggling to make a profit, no projects in the pipeline, and Whiting found another way to waste money by adding a new line of F grade managers. What is keeping bp from putting Whiting up for sale?
ACB Scorecard results
What everyone thinks about ACB scorecard results? Any comparisons with other historical low years?
It’s only a matter of time before BP becomes AP (American Petroleum)
And I’m all for it. America makes BP the most money yet the Bri-ish LT show disdain towards us at every turn and very openly. Especially Murray.
Shares up 7%
Ok, shares are up today by 7%. Like WTF is going on?

Gelsenkirchen - Another Divestment
We continue to make interesting moves. What could be the future for our remaining refineries? I could see us continuing to divest the euro refiners but hold onto the strategic plays in the states. Thoughts?
WL1 Propaganda
Has anyone noticed this? Every day that I walk into the lobby and elevators, all you can see posters and signage of how BP is “Investing IN America” while they are laying people off. It is demoralizing. Who thought up this sh-t? It’s literally... — read more

The 3 or 4 BPX People on This Site
I remember reading a comment about BPX needing their own board on this site while saying there were only 3 or 4 people talking to themselves on here. Doesn't really appear that way now.

Consultation after 'at risk'
How useful is the conversation after being at risk? What's your strategy?
How are you all dealing with stress?

Why do they keep hiring bean counters and consultants?
The board and LT need to be wiped and replaced with petroleum engineers from top to bottom. Leave the important decisions to the people who really understand the industry.

Well this message board has gone quiet
I hear Emeka's next communication is scheduled for Tuesday,.so maybe that will breathe a bit of life back here.
The good thing about half a year of layoff process
It definitely made me look much harder into other options. I’m doing myself a favor, you should too.
