As we're all aware by now, we very career-minded professionals in 40's and 50's with solid skills and experiences coming from another tech company join Cisco, and get so shocked to see a bunch of quiet, meek young staff in 20's and 30's with almost... — read more

Sometimes it's better not to show everything you know

I find it funny when I notice that people who have a huge skillset pretend they don’t know something very well. I have a colleague who suddenly started “forgetting” how to do things. What's really going on? Perhaps the reason behind it is that... — read more

Uptick of Cisconians leaving in last month.

Just saw on LinkedIn another VP leaving, no update where she is going. Aside from senior leadership, major uptick of key technical talent and business types saying goodbye. I left about a year ago and enjoyed that others where leaving (helped me... — read more

Fine place for those that lack skills

I don’t want to offend anyone, but one has to admit that this is becoming a place where those with great skills and experience are becoming undesirable. I believe that now everyone has at least one colleague who lacks skills but is progressing much... — read more

Shocking Real Cisco HR email from data disclosure.

I came across this. It’s Cisco HR in the UK The email was provided using a data disclosure request. It concerns an employee who had made a complaint against an exec. Some points to remember, Cisco claim to be ethical, zero tolerance to any form of... — read more

This week's Check-In

I can't believe I work for a company where we have to have a Director of Diversity baby sit these meetings and arbitrate whether or not its OK to comment on someone new hair cut.

Is Meraki selling access points during COVID-19?

Or, better question, is anyone buying access points now? If nobody is in the offices, then why upgrade your access points? Even Cisco offices are not getting access points upgrades. So if Cisco customers are not buying... ???

Must be vaccinated to attend Impact

It looks like Cisco is still planning on having an in person sales meeting this August in Las Vegas with a requirement to show vaccination. This should not effect many in the sales ranks as on average 93% of Cisco is vaccinated and it would not... — read more

What attracts younger people to Cisco?

It is not true that all new hires are bad. I have a great new young colleague who is very talented and promising. I don't believe he will stay here long though. What interests me is what attracts such people to Cisco now? I think that this company... — read more

Cisco Knows Exactly What It Is Doing

There was once a time where I thought that the yearly layoffs were just vestiges of a dying company. There was once a time when I thought they sucked, but were probably necessary evils to keep the company afloat. There was once a time where I was... — read more

How come the management here is so bad?

Management is a huge problem here. These people should never be in the management of any company. That is my personal opinion. I don't understand how they came to this position at all. They don't care about Cisco's future at all.
