How many operating systems does Cisco need??

This, my friends, is what's making Cisco rot from the inside. The technical debt is simply too humongous. Just the number of operating systems to maintain is testimony to how clueless the various CTOs have been: IOS-XE, IOS-XR, NXOS, ACI, Ubuntu... — read more

New to this site, but lots truth

Cisco has too many layers of fat. As a technical company, daily tasks are run by glorified secretaries AKA the project managers, copy and paste your work and package in an email and blast it out to different groups including upper management. ... — read more

Startup pay >> Cisco??

It was very humbling today when I had a startup reach out for a 2 YOE role and the recruiter quoted me a base pay range that was double my total comp at Cisco (no kidding). For any sane person and under G10 you are likely missing out big time on... — read more

How to convert Cisco to a great place to work?

Try: #1 Commitment to no layoffs. That should not be that hard for a XX billion company. #2 Free food and all the other Google-like perks. Competitive salaries (I cry every night when I think about how much my friends at other companies make). #3... — read more

The Cisco Network Cloud

Greatest innovation ever at Cisco. Add 100 lines of config to a switch with a static local login and you can now see active switch-ports in green on a web GUI. Didn't Ciscoview do that 30 years ago with SNMP?
