How many employees do we need?

How many employees does COP have - 10,300. How many employees does EOG have - 2,800. Now you see why we are having layoffs. I don’t even think that 10,800 is counting all the Concho employees we recently acquired. When will we stop having... — read more

Leave even if I'm fine?

I’m not saying it’s ideal, not even that it’s good here, but it’s personally comfortable here for me and I’d rather stay here for a few more years. I have a lot of things I could complain about, but let’s just say it’s bearable and more comfortable... — read more

Should’ve raised my hand

Every week I get more and more depressed that I didn’t take the package when it was offered. Weekends are all I look forward to anymore. Here’s hoping there’s another chance soon.

How many applications have you sent?

I’m ashamed to say how many job applications I’ve submitted and how many times I’ve gotten to the interview phase. I hope that I will get lucky soon, but the chances are that I will not get a good offer for a long time.

It’s sad to watch all this

I had never felt so little valued before. I guess I’m becoming more aware that no one cares what employees think. Every day I am more and more aware that my experience and skillset is becoming meaningless here. I stress needlessly over all the... — read more

Not Oxy balance sheet is a mess

Merge with pioneer and eog. This would be better, too much debt grabbing oxy. The only reason to grab oxy would be to scare anybody from acquiring cop. Don’t want to go into a low cost bbl holding that kind of debt.

Possible reasons for merger?

It is not at all clear to me what are the possible reasons why Conoco would merge with Oxy? If this rumor is true, then it's really bad and I hope to get out of here before it happens. Does anyone have any idea how many people could become... — read more

Merging with OXY?

Is this true? I am hearing rumors that COP is merging with OXY and taking on that mountain of debt.

History Repeats

Declaring the dividend is sacrosanct and then cutting it 6 weeks later. Sound familiar? https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/05/19/an-att-dividend-cut-is-coming-buy-this-telecom-ins/

Alaska

SO many Alaska Presidents & VPs over the past decade, like a revolving toilet. From the Exploration VP who bragged about sitting on Ryan's lap to the latest President who got an article placed in the Alaska newspaper about himself. AKBU still hasn't... — read more

Executive Compensation

It was only a couple of years ago the same thing happened here. And the tone-deaf response was “we’ll look into it”. Only losers lose this vote. https://news.yahoo.com/intel-shareholders-reject-executive-compensation-211343793.html

Serious Question

The company seems very very serious about D&I now. So my question is (and I’m afraid to ask HR), if I go home today Friday as “Harry”, and return to the office Monday morning as “Harrietta” (in a dress) am I going to be ignored? Or will this impact... — read more

My motivation is dead

How are you folks staying motivated? My productivity has gone to he-l lately. I'm so tired of seeing my hard work ignored and buttkissing rewarded that I'm at the point where I barely try anymore. Nepotism and cronyism have taken over and unless you... — read more

Summer Intern

AKBU is getting summer interns...at what point is it considered cruel and unusual to hire interns into an industry in its death throes?

Flexible work schedule

I heard from friends at BP and Oxy that their company is going to flexible schedules. So they work from home 2 days a week and still keep 9/80. Will our HR ever consider adopt to this type of step to better work/life balance?

Flexible work schedule

With BP and Oxy changing their work schedules to be more flexible, can we expect something positive for us here at COP? I heard from a friend that they are getting 2 days WFH and still keep their 9/80. Wish our HR is that generous.

People Are Our Greatest Asset!

Performance related salary increases that were taken away at the beginning of 2020 are being re–implemented, but at heavily discounted rates. 1% for a 1 5% for a 2 Why even give them back if that’s how you reward differential ratings?... — read more

Can we improve communication at COP?

There is something very wrong about the company when I have to go through several layers of management to finally get the information I needed. Why is that the case? Is there a specific need for all the processes to be this complicated? I know I'm... — read more

Constantly tired

Lately I’ve been constantly tired and it’s getting worse and worse. I started to suffer from insomnia and there is no way I can rest. I used to be tired before, but this is already a chronic fatigue. I took a few days off to try to get some relief... — read more

VCIP

New to Conocophillips here. Can someone explain how VCIP is prorated for people who are being laid off in August or September? Is the amount calculated by annual salary, quarterly salary, time on the job or job function? Trying to calculate if its... — read more

So what do you thinking your new boss?

Mine’s a person who has practically zero experience with the work my group does. Actually, some of the new people in the group have zero experience and one told me he doesn’t even want to be here. Awesome! I’m SO MOTIVATED to keep doing extra work to... — read more

A long overdue departure is finally happening

The announcement that Mr. Howdy himself is finally leaving is the best news to come from COP in a long time. While his replacement might be no better, it would be hard to find anyone who could do more damage to an IT organization than he did over... — read more

Title is not equal to expertise

As soon as they get a more significant title, some people start to be confident that their new title also means expertise. This is ridiculous because in this company, expertise has not had much to do with someone's role for a long time... — read more

COP town halls

Has anything useful ever come out of any of our town halls?

Wyoming assets..........

We’ve been for sale since Conoco bought Burlington, this time it feels different. Any thoughts on who’s the next player? Mid to late summer we may have a player, at least that’s my guess......

Global chiefs? What do they actually do?

COP has “chiefs” but they don’t seem to be actively involved with anything. Presumably they’re the Goto experts for everything but do they actually do anything? Why do we need chiefs?

What would you do differently?

If there’s something that bothers me, and it’s within my power to change it, I will change it. If something bothers me but I’m powerless to change It, I accept it, and move on. That’s exactly it. I didn’t take layoff very personally. It’s very... — read more

Waste of time and talent

There is nothing that could keep me here any longer, I am actively looking for my next job. I feel like I’ve wasted a few years here, nothing more. Unfortunately, I think it's a similar experience for many at Conoco? This company has demoralized me... — read more

Just trying to move on…

I was involved in the last round of layoffs and for the life of me I can't understand why I was chosen. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. I understand it’s “just business” but I can’t seem to move on from it. It’s eating me up inside... — read more

Fast tracking “yes men/women”

Over my entire career I have seen so many employees who don’t have the knowledge or experience quickly climb the ladder of “success” to become part of management. It is very daunting to see this occur time and again and the only criteria that is... — read more

A company that doesn’t value creativity?

It made me laugh when someone said that COP is a place where creativity and passion go to die. It’s true! And why is that - because the company is now run by people without big ideas that create an atmosphere in which people should not have their... — read more

Thinking about going to a minor league company?
