Topics regarding layoffs at ConocoPhillips

I just wonder if it’s easier for them now?

When those who deserved a job much more than those who stay get laid off, I wonder how those who stayed feel when they know that they didn't show anything through their work to deserve to stay here? Do mediocre people feel victorious that much better... — read more

HR-Dial that Enthusiasm Back

Like many of you, I got the HR call yesterday. Was it unexpected not really and I see it as an opportunity to move on to bigger and better. However, the one thing I did not expect was how enthusiastic the HR person was. She made it sound like I... — read more

This will get better

As a former employee of COP, I am here to tell you that there is life after a lay-off. I saw many friends let go, and I saw colleagues let go that were the best at what they did. There isn’t any rhyme or reason to how management makes their... — read more

This could give you a hint

If you know who your HR rep is then use the scheduling assistant to see how many 40 min meetings they have scheduled. It’s happening now. Someone else wrote it few minutes ago, I've just bumped it for info. Seems like a good tip, though i still... — read more

Be Positive

There are so many negative and angry posts on this forum. Admittedly they are by the same two or three people that were fired several years ago and who keep repeating the same old tired complaints. But just remember, for the rest of us, we're all... — read more

Update

I just want to start this thread to keep ourselves updated on how things are going. As for the ESOI, the latest is for the notifications to be complete by the end of the day on Wednesday... but nothing has happened yet except for a few EOIs.

Next Time Around

For a decade plus, every time leadership needs big layoffs to balance gross mismanagement / missed opportunities / help with optics or messaging they go ahead and hammer exploration. This time around it seems 90% of exploration will leave, including... — read more

Who will support the coffee shops?

Who will support the coffee shops now that the exploration group is going to be decimated? It’s tough finding oil when you are sipping lattes for seven hours a day discussing how ‘busy’ you are. I guess that’s why COP has to consistently go out and... — read more

Cancun

I’m hearing the ELT had a “leadership” meeting in Cancun this week, they took their fleet of private jets down there with their families? True?

I hope layoffs are not delayed

Here's the thing, people who'll be laid off have already been decided. Nothing will change that and a few extra days will mean very little to them (or us, I might be among them.) But any delay means that every single one of us has to go through days... — read more

How do you overcome uncertainty?

Getting laid off would be easier to bear if this company was a little more transparent. I decided not to stress about it and accept my faith, amor fati, because I can’t influence the outcome of layoffs in any way. Fortunately, the severance pay is... — read more
