Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Next round of layoffs?

Does anyone know when the next round of layoffs are? I'm hearing November again, so they do not need to match our 401ks. Talk about happy holidays!

Someone mentioned 9/30 is the deadline for company match. I thought you need to be there at BNY from Jan1-Dec 31 in order to get the company match.

9/30 is the deadline for company match. If you get laid on or off before, no company match.

Heartless, soulless company lead by a heartless, soulless CEO.

@5tcy got everyone wondering today if the meeting their manager scheduled is for mid year feedback or termination.

@1coz

There has not been a layoff this year.

However there have been plenty of people terminated for cause, invariably for not meeting RTO requirements. These anti-RTO people are fired for cause, so no package.

So long as people are willingly getting fired for cause (leaving for free) there are not going to be any layoffs. In the meantime the SUB is going down to the industry standard two weeks.

You have been warned…

It will be second week of September. More Reqs already being cleared for more hiring in India and Poland to adjust for US and UK reductions.

@2mat

Be careful of predicting layoffs. January layoff was a fail. February layoff was a fail. June layoff was a fail. I witnessed all three and there has not been a layoff this year.

This is because our most toxic employees are fighting RTO requirements and effectively quitting for free. We won’t see layoffs resume anytime soon. Follow the rules and you have unprecedented job security.

"so they do not need to match our 401ks"
If that's the case, layoffs would need to be in late September/early October as the threshold for being employed to receive 401k match in 2025 is October 31

Can you imagine being so devious and devoid of a conscience to plan layoffs before a 401k match? It’s just sleezy.

Ridiculous!! Layoffs are not new to financial industry but BNY is the only firm that does it throughout the year causing chaos..rumours and unproductive talks,panic and what not,when the time can be used for work..Management is the sole reason,so much for ‘Power our culture’,rofl!
