Return of the Garlic Manager

Despite excellent performance (by their own admission) while staff worked 100% from home, now that the pandemic is winding down, they are back to power games to make sure the help understands they are ‘just barely tolerated by management’.

“The beatings will continue until morale improves!”

Priceless.

@3unh, many of us worked from home before the pandemic.
And of course the company is free to tell us where to work. And we are free to push back or refuse to do it and deal with the consequences.

Jwa ... yeah and they also give you your paycheck. Since when should employees dictate how and where they should work? You went into the office before... this was supposed to be a 2 week thing... not it’s time to go back over a year later. Be thankful for the time you were able to wfh and move on with life. Geesh...

@1oxh+1bHM6lBK you seem like a lovely person to be around 8 hours each day. I bet your family is happy about the return to office.

Did anyone here actually think that they were going to have a WFH PRIVILEGE forever? It was just that and not a right. You came to work before Covid, correct? Now it's time to either look for another job that allows it, or to put your big people underwear on and deal with it. The amount of b*thing on this topic is played out and really getting old, so everyone, just give it a rest. September is coming soon, give yourselves something to do and go buy some clothes because sweatpants are not allowed.

Control. Plain and simple. Basically a mandated return to office is a way of saying "we control you, and WE will determine how we want you to work."
