Hmmmmm…the day after.

At Mellon we had lead pipes so we had to buy our own polar water for drinking as well as our own coffee. There were heated arguments for coffee drinkers who didn’t want to pay for polar water.
It was a hellish place to work.
This is an epic battle between management and employees struggling for every penny. Management is going to win this battle but they’re so short sighted that they are going to lose the war. The brain drain is rapidly accelerating and anybody with a good skillset is going to be out job hinting the day after the bonuses hit their accounts. It’s been bad and getting worse for a very long time but it’s over now that all trust has been broken. I truly hate this place and I once loved it..
Interesting. I have worked for many companies over the past 40 years and Mellon and BNYM were the only two companies which didn’t have free coffee. I even worked for a Savings & Loan which went under in 1982 and the coffee was free.
So they will dock your last paycheck if you’ve taken more vacation than you’ve accrued but won’t pay out for vacation you’ve accrued but not taken??? That’s a disgusting double standard. Clearly looking for ways to actively sc--w over employees at this point.
@3jwp+1pnPiyga; my BNY department has free Alterra coffee, with the Alterra brewing machine. Maybe this is just the department budget for the department employees.
Well they can and did. Email to come Tuesday
The bank can't decide that it will not pay employees for accrued vacation they don't use.
There has never been free coffee at BNYM
@2vcc+1pnPiyga not entirely true
Not anymore starting in January
The policy hasn't changed since 2021, and accrued vacations are paid at the time of termination (voluntary or not). Only carryover days still unused after April 1st are unpaid (use or lose it).
Post card in the mail today which went right into my recycling can. If they are so concerned about saving on expenses, I think an email would have worked better. No mailing costs or paper and printing costs. And for a company that tries to tout green buildings, they could have saved some trees.
Is that the new policy - no accrued vacation payout if terminated? They are just getter cheaper and cheaper. Probably why they stopped sending me surveys. My standard response of zero when asked if I would recommend employment here or if I would stay if offered a position elsewhere. I’m at retirement age so doesn’t have much effect on me but I’m really concerned about my co-workers.
@1fps, you'd have to set down your White Claw® for that.
I got a postcard in the mail today saying enrollment starts on Nov 7th.
HR technology at its finest. HR claims they sent information out on October 31, but I don’t know of a single person who received it. Some HR person probably clicked a link to send an email that went nowhere. Makes perfect sense given that more than fifty percent of our internal links never work.
Let's drink as much as office free coffees as a final benefit before we are layoff.
It's only a banner on mysource for me, but the link doesn't go anywhere.
Was on mysource last night, but not seeing it this morning.
I have not received an email on benefits or open enrollment. Nothing on MySource either.
Someone should have mentioned some of the new benefits coming out like vacation payout at termination being discontinued
it on mysource.
Layoffs are actually the 6th-8th
So the day after would be the 9th
Was this communicated via email?
Coincidence? I think not. 😢
Of course- no sense having enrollment for canned employees
