Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

4 days in office? This summer ??

I work in Pittsburgh and have heard a variety of reputable rumors regarding being in the office 4 days this summer. June, or August as the start dates. What have you heard?

LOL. Good catch. Yeah ‘BNY asking employees
they simply left out a few letters;
‘BNY a-s-s kicking employees’
There, fixed it for them…

Funny that the fake news says they are "asking" employees instead of telling.\

They made it official in our meeting today in NYC /NJ Offices. June 2nd 2025. 4 days a week managers & 3 days non-management personnel. Crazy. 1 month to get all in order. Can we ask for an extension? This will be difficult, transportation, tolls, wear & tear & child care/school schedules. Thanks - good luck everyone

They don't care about that..Alejandro visited a location and said he doesn't care if people are sitting out in the hallways if there isn't enough room, they need to be in the office

''It’s all just rumours. They don’t have the capacity in the offices.''

Can you clarify which offices you are referring to? In Manchester, UK, I think unfortunately we do have capacity. Even though we will move to a new building in approx Q3 2026, currently the office is virtually empty on a Friday, so I think capacity would be available here.

Request a copy of your employee records ( # years of your performance reviews, etc) from HR. Make a copy of this email request - showing date of request).

By BNY policy and state law you are allowed to get your records - only as an employee. Once terminated, BNY is not required to provide these to you. These may come in handy when they terminate you.

We need 90 days to get our resumes in order. On a positive note work place affairs will be back on the rise.

How can 4 days a week be implemented when so many are still casually strolling in and out of the office as they please!

We may be awful at client service, technology, projects and employee engagement but we are #1 at delays, mental abuse and culture rot. The higher revelation of this thread really isn’t people guessing about what’s next or delays of the next round of layoffs and going into the office 4 days or more. It’s that management allows and encourages such a poisonous climate of ‘expecting the worst’. Worse, they know they are doing it on purpose. All in long drawn out slow drip mode for maximum effect. If you really had a hard on for 5 days in office, why even go 3 then 4 etc.? If you want to cut benefits why not do it all at once and be done with it? Because we have power sadists wanting you to leave with nothing and make it look like your fault. And they enjoy doing it too.

They gave the people managers 90 days notice of having to do 4 days a week office. So I would factor this is when considering a potential start date for everyone else.

this rumor about 4 days in office, even 5 days which is even funnier has been going on for over a year.. the posted target dates shift to the right like clockwork.

word on the street is that it IS coming, so even if true, no one here really knows what they are talking about other than possible incite-based speculation. Either that or the company is terrible at stamping out a rumor that could easily be done in town halls, their lacky correspondence, and elsewhere.

I would not doubt they do got to 4, or 5, despite the obvious real-estate problem with office-space. Many are still on a two day RTO mandate (90-91 day cycle you need 20-ish) so not everyone is on 3 days, now 4 for people managers.

Still, most of this is just people not having a clue what they are talking about, or people in the know that keep talking about things that keep getting delayed.

What you say gets upvotes where as the person (@ag+1js2vah9p) who said the same thing that the dates are not guaranteed gets down votes - shows this groups ..... !

The point is this board is flaky, . It is like the Dell Horoscope on the super market aisles. It comes true once in a while .

Same story about WHEN the 4 days RTO will happen. It is April but no one can say it is April 2025 or 2030.

If you really work at BNY, you would know that dates slip here all the time. We are only as accurate as what we get at the time. Dates and timelines pushing out are a BNY specialty. It’s a question of ‘when’ not ‘if’. It’s people like you who cried Wolf at predicted Woodland Park, Wexford and Chicago closures. And when they did you shut up. It’s people like you who ridiculed the notion of NYC and London layoffs and the changes in layoff benefits just because they ended up 45 days longer than first discovered. So please take your passive aggressive limp wrist with the timex on it elsewhere. We are more in the know than you are. That’s the point of this site.

Four days has been rumored for a year. This board was convinced four days would be starting in April.

Enjoying your four days in office?

It's probably coming. Will it come in a few months? Maybe. But anyone telling you a specific date is no different than the countless lemmings that were convinced we'd be full time already

I heard after Labor Day for Wilm. Guess it depends on when they need the next round of RTO violations to start.

In Manchester, UK have heard rumours could be announced by end of April. In my view, this could make sense as would align with the incoming graduate intake in the summer. Start of September I've so heard as a possible date.

People managers are already having to do this (myself included).

Dear Pitzyburger,
The announcement for 4 days mandatory will be in June and the effective date to start doing it will be September 1. That gives employees 90 days to get their ducks in a row for personal things like childcare, elder care, needing transportation. Source- two senior managers.
