Thread regarding Kyndryl layoffs

Cuts after the holiday

I'm on edge about whether there will be cuts this week. I wouldn't put it past them to do it just after the holiday.

Second manager of my former team was fired (retired, sic!) the other week (Director level, US based). (The another one back in July 2025). And replaced with newly hired external indian guy (UK based) at VP level (as all other hiring these days). Some other person from the team was even promoted to B9 (must have been tough mental job of being very good boy). The point I am trying to make is if that promotion is rather a Pyrrhic victory under current KD circumstances. Questionmark. (Me: commenting from (happily with new job) outside).

@dx. I think the degradation in talent over the last five years has been steep, and these layoffs just advanced that problem.

Many KD in NA is very worried especially the older one who has over 15 years or above. The job market here is dead. Layoffs everywhere. People who get cut will see major pay cut if they are lucky to find another IT job or retire. The internal job posting for bench is virtually zero. Hopefully they don't cut until after the summer. I also heard many contracts is facing renewals this years.

@ky that’s exactly what’s happening

@dx Must be laying off the expensive people (ie higher performers) while leaving the cheap people (ie low performers).

@dq Exactly the same in my area. Loads of obvious low performers still in their jobs and most of the top performers gone.

The VP I work under spent much of the week before the holiday laying people off. My group is half the size it was this time last year. Some let go were high performers. A couple still here are… questionable. Staff I thought would be cut due to laziness still here.

@ar yep, follows the pattern from 2025. At least they have this sausage machine process down pat.
