Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Scoop on upcoming office location closures?

Anyone has a scoop on any planned office location closures? BNY Mellon has been trying to reduce real estate footprint and the cost associated with it through site consolidation and offshoring to India. Some are now calling it the Bank of India!

Charlie’s 4 year guidance to the Oriskany employees that Oriskany would be closing within four years was confirmed today with the closing of Oriskany.

Amazingly it was almost 4 years to the day. I’m no fan of Charlie, but he certainly stuck his head out with his warning to Oriskany employees and it allowed so many of us to start job searches and build our networks.

Credit to Charlie for doing right by Oriskany.

Great then. Why don’t you Google the original Scharf Oriskany posts. I told you exactly now to do it here after I did it. Too much work or just like being wrong?

Heard all other regional offices are to be closed within 3 years (by 2025) that are not growth sites like Pgh and Lake Mary, FL. Guessing they have to keep NYC office (?) Even given this, they still keep gutting Pgh with layoffs.

@8qtd, there still IS and archive d0t org. And google is great at indexing changing sites. But the only thing that changes here is the main page and a few active threads. If there's a page about oriskany from 3 years ago it hasn't changed and google easily crawled it and indexed it.

@8ozk

Yes, but Google is not very good at all with indexing changing data. There was once a site called “Way Back Machine” which was very good at that.

There's nothing about this site that prevents google from crawling it and indexing the results.

Sorry, but Google doesn't do a very good job of indexing moderated sites which change rapidly. As I said, it’s possible, but tedious, to find the nearly 4 year old Oriskany posters. How the h3ll would any of us even knew that Oriskany existed, let alone had a BNYM office, if it wasn’t from the whining about Charlie’s warning?

I’ve noticed a few new posts about Oriskany lately so likely it’s still being considered. Obviously nobody respects a warning from a long gone drive by CEO, let alone feels bound by it. Yet it’s being surfaced again. Shoot me for having an awesome memory.

@7pvi, nope, it's quite easy to do a google search on the site and there is not mention of scharf saying anything about oriskany.

RE: Wellesley, it's a shame. That's such a nice office. BNYM destroyed a really good software company,

Not my opinion… Oriskany people were saying this here 4 years ago. You can actually go back but it is tedious.

@7lag, it should be closed already based on your lies about Scharf.

Then it’s good that nobody has been coming into 240 G. As always only Pittsburgh and India is required to comply. NYC took months off for everything from Canadian Fire days to Summer daze to swipe and leave days.

240 G a good place to house migrants and homeless - the rest rooms are already in a condition typical of those types of places.

@1cqg+1nZVyPI7 BNYM does not own OBNYM - MetLife does.

@kps+1nZVyPI7 have you heard this from a reliable source(re: Wellesley)? I'm based there and definitely see the writing on the wall, just wondering if you know for sure that's the timeline for closing.

That’s Robin for you. Stealing from the rich to give to the poor impoverished folk of East East Syracuse, even after 2 years. No wonder that we all love him.

Nope, the sale fell through! No wonder they canned the former site lead last January! Check Onondaga County public records. The building is listed for lease if you are interested! They should reopen it and close isolated Oriskany.

People don’t seem to realize that the vast majority of OBNYM has always been rented out to tenants. BNYM never needed nor wanted that building. They own it only because Dravo went belly up while they were building it as their headquarters. Mellon held the construction loans and wound up owning the building.

The Client Service Center is all that we need in Pittsburgh. Much more space for employees than there was in OBNYM WHICH WAS 80% tenants.

@eyl+1nZVyPI7 WRONG....the bank does NOT own the real estate in E. Syracuse.....it was sold soon after the building was vacated.

500 Grant in Pittsburgh will be vacation over the next two years. Consolidation into the Ross St facility is the plan, but hard to say how that’s gonna work, given the number of people involved. On the upside, there’re putting a new Starbucks in the lobby of the CSC
