@px why don't you just take teams of your personal phone? I WFH and don't have teams on my phone.

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.”

@px
You represent the garbage that BNY calls new hires now. If you think for one second that you are going to have some 35 hour week and no more than that, you have a surprise coming to you. You and your ‘partner’ will soon have a lot more time together because you’ll be ousted.

Really, I do not welcome coming to office 5 days a week

Why?

Before COVID - I was doing five days a week. Which also meant, I come in at 9 AM - leave at 5 PM. Have an hour lunch, 12 - 1 - my time when I am not at desk. I never carry work home. No office phone or apps installed. Had a desk. Locked up the powered down laptop. I am free from 5PM. Had an hour of unwinding and by the time I reached home I am no longer a BNY employee

No weekend work

Covid and WFH changed it. They got me chained and I am 'accessible'. The WFH does not have a time boundary. They can reach you on Teams on phone anytime. You are a 24x7 chained worker. Even with one day WFH gives them the ability - right or wrong is different - to reach you and request you to respond. Expectations

With 5 days my time is very defined. I work for 35 - now 40 - and have an overhead of 10 hrs on commute - that is the MAX BNY gets from me. 50 hrs a week. And my pay corresponds to that. That is how I compare my salary and offers I get.

Not 24X7X7 - BNY has been getting away with that type of slavery -

Welcoming NO WFH .. I understand that it impacts others in different ways. I will be happier if they do not ring me while I am spending time with friend / family / partner and ask me to sign on to address a problem that Pune folks cannot resolve

FULL RTO means MY personal time is back

@OP considering we barely have seating capacity to cope with 4 days I don’t see how this is possible anytime soon but who knows

bunch of liars that run this shithole - they knew all along. They were working towards five days a week… But if you recall.

first it was you should come in. It’s great. Get some free pizza and free parking.

then it was you need to be coming in two days a week… No additional benefits

and it became two days a week and were tracking you

then three days With Robin Peacocking at one of the town hall, saying if we came back to the office more than this it would be a failure on management part

Now it’s 4 and most likely going to be five

All I can say is I’m now at a new company that were in the office four days a week, but it actually isn’t bad being in the office because the environments decent and it’sin a area of town that we don’t have to pay to park and if you need additional days at home just do it. You’re not treated like a toddler.

@c1 “ I don't understand the rationale”… they want to break people so they quit or do 1 small thing that violates a new policy so they can lay you off. When let go they keep your 401k match, your severance, and it brings them joy as they hire 20 people in P U N E with no experience to replace you.
Any common sense company would invest in their employees, tell me how this place does that? Every team is so thin it’s a joke. You, like everyone else, are an expense to the board, an expense they want gone. This place has turned into Hunger Games in real life. The sick part is every person who got them through the c0vid virus BS are being rewarded by being fired. Guess they weren’t client obsessed enough or whatever joke of a slogan Rob-In came up with while taking a dump on the company jet.

For years prior to Covid, my team had staff and management working from home 2 and 3 days per work, and some even permanently based at home. It never seemed to cause any major issues and the company was encouraging it. I don't understand the rationale for now mandating 4 and 5 days per week in office - ESPECIALLY when your managers and team members now are located all over the globe (though mainly in India.) I have never ever been in the same room, building, state, or country with 90% of my current team. Yet commuting 2 hours every day to and from the office to connect with them over Teams is now required?

The Jersey City folks are moving to NY in Sept and groups are allotted 90% seats per manager. There is no way this is happening as there will not be enough seats. Once we go to 4 it’s going to be tight as it is.

@ad+1k0w4d8v6 My group was allowed to WFH 2 days a week several years before Covid too. This is ridiculous! If they make senior managers do it then 6 mos later it’s everyone. Such a waste of time.

Look on the bright side, they can’t make us come in 6 and 7 days a week.

If they go 5 days a week, then that is grounds to remove and stop home remote access.

You can almost smell this 5 days coming.
