Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

“I won’t back down; no, I won’t back down” – Tom Petty if he was singing up for the VSP

The Eastern time zone deadline is less than two hours away, and things are getting incredibly real and emotional.

Despite persistent fear trying to convince me to change my mind with what time I have left, I know I am making the right choice by applying for the VSP.

I feel scared, uncertain, and anxious, but I am ready.

I pray for peace and provision for each of you. Whether you are staying or leaving, navigating this situation has not been easy, and unfortunately, we are far from over.

Make sure to use up all of your vacation and sick time, leave absolutely nothing on the table, and enjoy the long weekend.

@h8 Just my 2 cents! We all have our own perspectives. If this isn't your cup of tea, feel free to just scroll on by. It's totally free to ignore, so no need to get worked up over it! 😊

@gr

Here you go, spamming this same post content, verbatim, copyy/pasting it onto thread after thread, in the Centene section of this site!

https://www.thelayoff.com/centene

You are very determined to try to do some sort of damage control here, by copy/pasting that same B.S. on thread after thread. "Leadership holds all the cards"...LOL

Is that why "leadership" had to backtrack and change the VSP policy, once they saw the deluge of numbers of people who applied for it? Suddenly the "leadership" tone changed from "take it or leave it" (where most people took the offer) to "hey wait a minute guys, we need to change things up a bit here...we need more time to process things."

GTFO with your B.S.
Everyone can see through it, and you're fooling no one.

Honestly, no one knows what leadership will do, and they hold all the cards. Speculating on every rumor isn't going to change the outcome. In the end, it boils down to two options: accept the Voluntary Separation Program (VSP) or risk an involuntary layoff. It’s a financial decision for the company, not a personal one. My best advice is to stop stressing over the noise and focus on preparing for whichever scenario comes your way.

Illinois PTO can be cashed out. Not sick time.

In CA the PTO can be cashed out, just not sick time which I still have plenty of but will use it all up in Aug.

@OP Agree on the PTO and as shared earlier, avoid the last two weeks per the VSP info. I think using our sick time for a sick day and/or MD visit makes sense. Personally, I would not put anything past Centene at this point. I have 90 sick hours accrued and would not use a large percentage of that time. Already have my remaining PTO available through Sept. approved. Not leaving one hour of PTO to them! I worry taking excessive sick time could impact my severance payout. Paranoid, maybe but I have zero trust. at this point. 15 years here. Good luck everyone.

@c4 Thanks friend! I noticed that disclaimer about the timeframe too. You better believe I already checked how much time I’ll have left by September 4th and am figuring out how to use the rest of it before it runs out.

@OP on the same wavelengh as you... use up all PTO while you can, but try to prior to last 2 weeks of seperation per FAQ D8. If needed reach out to people leader to ensure they don't have reason to rescind the offer.

The waiting is the hardest part as I start free falling into the great wide open. You wreck me Centene but I won’t back down!

Then the wait begins to find out our fate from this tired dried up a-s company!
