Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Lake Mary to close in 2028? Is this true?

Potentially cutting the lease early and relocating because salaries have inflated there and everyone’s demoralized, etc.

Is this true? How would moving the whole operation again help with morale?

Lake Mary is absolutely closing. So is Alpharetta. So is Tulsa.

Rumor had it before I left that the tech development center is California was on the chopping block, too, but I didn't stick around to confirm it.

@ae It's made up out of thin air. Many of the comments about Finance and Accounting and Lake Mary here are clearly made by people who have no clue what they're talking about. "Ping pong" culture??? WTF. Yes, there's an abandoned table down in the cafe that no one's used since 2017, sure. The facility is obsolete in today's hybrid/remote work culture, sure. But it's owned, good luck selling it without taking a massive loss (I doubt it could be sold, at all). This board has some great info and takes, but you have to weed through a lot of utter bullsh-t from malcontents, misfits and angry losers (like who really believes ex-employees who've been fired or laid off actually return here to participate?). It's a fun read though, when you're bored.

I work there and the only place where I’ve heard rumors about the building closing is on this site. Where did 2028 come from?

LM is not a lease. Check the property records, owned by VZ. Doesn't mean it won't close at some point

Lake Mary has a storied history. Top leadership of the former COE and Bill to Cash were involuntarily terminated. VZ HQ tried to make the finance transformation fail to hoard power, yet some that did that conveniently moved down during Covid to take tax benefits. Ping pong culture and game time lasted hours a day. At its core, the location is ground zero for over a decade of leadership infighting and chaos dressed up in AI LinkedIn posts.

The finance operations VP celebrated the closing of my Tulsa office, so I would not be surprised. I hope they also have one last event there to inspire leadership with their pictures by a telephone booth.
